  1. Thank you all so much for your responses. They really help me out.
  2. Hi all, I'm gonna be going to a CNA course but it doesn't start until Oct. since i have all this time i really don't want to waste it by not going to school or anything so i was thinking about doing a Phlebotomy course before I do my CNA program. What do you all think?
  3. I'm gonna be starting the CNA program in August but at the moment I work as Bookkeeper sorta (o.O) but its a very small private company and i get paid $11.75 an hours. I'll be getting a raise in a few months because it'll be 1 year since i've been working here but its a dead end job and theirs no where to go from this position in this company. CNA make a little below that amount or a little more. I'm in chicago so im guessing thats about right. I tell a lot of my friends that I'm gonna be going to do the CNA program and they tell me well thats, sorry to say this here, the b***h job in healthcare or something like that but for me i see it as the first step into the healthcare career and I know I will be learning a lot before i get into nursing school. I'm pretty confident with this plan and the pay since its not much different than what i make now and like i said its only the first step if you wish to go further you can and your not stuck.
  4. Thank you all for the replies! Yea i looked more into a program that is evening and that im able to do but it doesn't start until August 12 so i guess im going to have to wait. But im really excited about joining the healthcare career and taking my first step into becoming a nurse. I'm just a lil nervous about the whole CNA job but i know once i start learning more and then do clinicals i think i'll get use to maybe? But i know that even though i'm new to these forums I can count on everyone on here for advice. I've read a lot of posts already and have been touched to see how everyone helps each other =D
  5. Hi all, I very recently decided to try for a career in healthcare. I want to eventually be a nurse and i've been looking into LPN programs but most of them are during the days and I work 8:30-5:00 which makes it kind of hard. I've also read a lot of articles about people saying that a good idea is to take a CNA programs and get a job as a CNA so you can get your foot in the door and get some real job experience and maybe the place where you work will help you pay for the rest of your education. But anyways I was looking into the CNA program at PCCTI which is a year long(180 hours). I was wondering if anyone has any comments on this school/program. It is like $1,000 for the program and was also wondering what are the pre requisits for a CNA program if any? I've also seen a lot of other programs during the day what are only around 4-5 weeks longs. How come some are really shorts and others are up to a year long?
