  1. Hello everyone, Im seeking to here from fellow new nurses that can identify with my topic. I am a new nurse with about 3 months experience that work on a fast paced observation unit. I started on this unit as an intern and even that experience wasn't a positive one. I feel as though I am doomed on my unit and targeted by fellow coworkers, almost bullied to a certain extent. I am seriously considering quitting and searching for a job in much smaller setting vs a big area hospital, somewhere less busy. I would like to know what are some not-so-good things you all encountered as a new nurse and how did you handle it? Im sure hating a unit you worked on is common but how/when did you move elsewhere? Im so miserable and fed up at this point that I am willing to take my chances with less than one year experience, staying on my unit is causing me far too much stress not to leave.
  2. Hi Amber, I want to apologize and tell you that I understand your situation completely. It sound exactly as my own. I been crying and depressed for the last 2 days. I took boards Monday morning, suffered a gruesome 6 hours, in which I ran out of time and still didnt complete my exam, I made it to question 242/265. I did the PVT in which I was prompted to proceed to reregister which only brought tears to my eyes because I already knew what this meant. I have 3 small children to provide for, ages 7, 3, and 2. I was very much depending on passing my exam the first time and getting on with my life continuing my internship. Most of my fellow classmates and internship colleags have passed their boards. Please know, you are not the only one out there and as dreadful and scary as it is, we must do it again.
  3. You welcome.
  4. Saunders Comprehensive Review NCLEX-RN examination is a really good book, it contains a lot of information. A lot of people in my class use it. I would start with that one. Whenever you all have Success Camp, I am thinking about attending to give my advice.
  5. Congrats to those of you who got accepted, I am so happy for you all!!! I'm in 1st semester at BH, and I would like to advise you all to get your Fundamentals textbook (mentioned in an earlier post) now and start reading it, and please get your hands on an NCLEX-RN book. Also, Davis's Fundamentals Success and Test Success are good to start off with. All of the tests you take from this point forward will be NCLEX style questions that require critical thinking.
  6. I just sent my request.
  7. Hi ladies, my excitement is still here. Finally, I get to enjoy this weekend. I been working 12 hours shifts at the hospital since Tuesday, and so I have been very exhausted. I'm ready to unwind. I don't return back to work until Tuesday so I plan to relax and do my remaining assignments in this 4-day break from work.
  8. Congrats to my fellow nursing program classmates!!! I'm ready for it all or am I : / One thing's for sure, I definitely have to save now.
  9. You guys, I'm about to faint, I received my email!!!! I made it in!!!
  10. I agree with you sugarmag, I honestly think we're already in. I don't even want to think negative at this point. From my experiences, those rejected get the news sooner than those who are based on the whole process of things (paper work, dates, orientation, etc). That's like with a job. Does this make sense?
  11. Lol, I agree with you guys. Does anyone know if emails are sent out to those rejected? This may be a silly question, but I am curious. Is delayed news kind of like good news? I mean seriously, can it really take a week to re-rank everyone minus 10 applicants. Maybe I'm thinking too hard, I just got off work. Maybe today will be the big day, hope so.
  12. Sound like me, every time I notice I have an email, my heart beats a mile a minute only for me to discover its not "that" email. This is about to drive me crazy. Four more days to go.
  13. Sounds like a good book, I may have to check that out on Amazon. Maybe today will be the big day. I sure hope so. :)
  14. Hi guys, I'm back. My kids, work, and assignments have kept me busy. I so hope they let us know something before Friday. I have been a nervous wreck, trying not to think about the whole interview thing. I was so nervous, and it showed. I'm considering purchasing a critical thinking book for nurses, no particular reason, I'm just curious as to what critical thinking really is and would like to know how to train my brain to do such from a nurses standpoint.
  15. Oh ok. Well, I hope we find out if we are accepted or not before the 11th. I'm not sure what to think anymore, but I do hope I get accepted.
  16. Hi guys, I'm back. I am so glad the interview is over, my stress levels have decreased. The interview wasn't anything like how I pictured it to be in my head. I was nervous and I had anxiety. It's like I partially blanked out. I know for a fact I didn't do as well as I could have. I hope I got at least 3 points. Some questions were easier to answer than others, and they do require some thought (if not critical thinking). All I know is I gave it a shot to the best of my knowledge and mental status at the time. To me, answering questions among your peers isn't nearly intimidating as answering questions in front your prospective future instructors who are all looking at you. Sugarmag, which one were you? Did you arrive early? I remember chatting with several people.
  17. Talking about nervous, that's me. I'm arriving super early to make time for any mishaps. :)
  18. Lol, that made me laugh. Thanks. I know, I am talking slower than usual. Imagine my group interview with 5 and here I am talking all slow, that's a total nightmare. Hopefully, I'll feel a whole lot better tomorrow. It's too bad we won't recognize each other since I happen to be the first runner up out the group so far.
  19. Good evening ladies, I had to get a tooth pulled today and my mouth is really hurting. This would have to take place the day before my interview, and it having me talking weird. Despite this, I still plan to ace my interview. I don't intend on bringing anything, but I do intend to read the nursing website just to gain a little history.
  20. Thanks girl, I sure needed to hear that.
  21. Good morning Kasey and Briterz, omg, this interview thing is really bugging me. I'm so ready for it to be over already. Its all I could think about last night.
  22. I know right. We may just be over-reacting, it may turn out easier than we are anticipating. Despite my nervousness, I intend on looking very confident and answering my questions honestly. : )
  23. I have no idea what kind of critical thinking questions we will be asked or even if we will be asked any. I hope I choose two basic questions to answer. From the looks of it, no one scheduled their interview before me on Tuesday.
  24. Right, I can totally agree with you. What if they ask us something that really make us think (hard). I hope I choose two good questions, and I'm glad these group interviews are not huge because I was thinking a group > 5.
  25. Kasey, I can definitely agree with you on the margarita. I'm just putting my best foot forward on Tuesday. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if I recall, I think Brookhaven said we can randomly choose 2 questions to answer and we will be in groups of 5. Did anyone else hear this?
