  1. In a nutshell - just grad. Dec 07, accepted a job on a Med/Surg/Tele unit because I was told to (I was a PCT in ICU and loved it-my hospital would not hire GNs into ICU in Dec for a long list of "reasons"). I totally hate it. It's unsafe and I feel like I'm "buried" every day. My preceptor is no help....she "disappears" when I need her most and tells me that it's the "only way to learn"!!! AGH!!! At any rate...should I see if I can transfer to ICU - where the pt ratio is less? (I'd rather know everything there is to know about my pt, rather than running around passing meds all day) OR should I look into another type of nursing? I really like Psych but worry about pigeon-holing myself.... I'd like to think that I'm a really good nurse but I'm not seeing much "therapeutic nursing" going on at all.... Thanks for any and all advice, Kim:heartbeat:nurse:
