  1. Hello everyone, I posted yesterday with concerns over starting a second career in nursing in mid-40's....after reading responses and searching other threads and seeing that it is not uncommon at all, I feel much better. Thanks everyone! However another issue cropped up that I would like to get your take on - - do you think that employers in your field are hesitant to hire people that are in their 40's, 50's? I keep reading about the expected (if not already?) nursing shortage crisis to occur during the next decade and thought that (hopefully) hospitals and private practices would hire on professionalism, education, etc., and not be concerned with how old the applicant is - but I thought I'd run this by those of you already working in this area and get your take on it. Thanks again for the encouragement and support.
  2. Hello everyone.... Just looking to get opinions here - - I want to change careers and enter into a Nursing program. By the time I finish I will be in my mid-40's and just starting out in the nursing field. I know that my age shouldn't matter but I'm hung up on it. Does it sound/look ridiculous to start a nursing career at 45?
