  1. I am a new grad nurse. I interview in mid Feb for a day shift med-surg position. Anyhow, to make the long story short, I started orientation last Monday and was just informed on Friday, March 21 that orientation to my unit is 5 days a week/8 hour shifts. My problem is this.. I was never told during my interview that orientation was 5 days a week x 8 hr shifts. I just assumed that I would get precepted 3 days a week x 12 h. Now I don't have daycare. I talked to the nurse manager and she said that HR should've told me. I asked if I could do 3 days a week and perhaps extend my orientation but she said if they brake the rules for me they'd have to do it for everyone. Now I'm stuck with trying to find daycare at the last minute. I just don't think this is fair. If I had known back in Feb. this would've given me ample time to get daycare. Any advice?
  2. You are so right! Everyone does have a different take on Kaplan and the NCLEX but I really do feel that nursing school prepared me for the NCLEX and not Kaplan. Like I said earlier, a lot of my classmates swear buy it, I just had a different experience..that's all. The most important thing is that we passed regardless of who we credit:) Congratulations to you!!
  3. Kaplan really stressed strategies to break down questions. They use something called the decesion tree. I found that I couldn't use their decesion tree at all..not even once. I think the only thing Kaplan helped me with was getting comfortable with answering questions on the computer. Now I'm not saying that Kaplan doesn't help a lot of people, it came highly recommended by the class that graduated before me. However, for me I strongly feel that nursing school prepared me for the NCLEX. Hope this clarifies things a little.
  4. I am sooooo happy. I passed the nclex-rn. I seriously thought I failed because it seemed I didn't get many priority or infection control questions. So here's the thing, I payed $500.00 for the Kaplan complete plan and I seriously think it was a total waste of my money!!! I understand that this program works well for some people but it absolutely didn't prepare me for that test. Anyhow, thanks for everyone's support....you all are awesome. :nuke:
  5. I got 3 sata, 2 exhibition questions. Just took it today and sure I bombed it. Good luck to you though.
  6. I took the nclex-rn today and I just don't know what to say about it. I feel just awful. I am pretty sure I failed because I only got 3 SATA, a few priority and infection control and 4-5 meds, and 2 exhibit questions. A vast majority of my questions were only 1-2 sentences. These can't be critical thinking questions...right? I just don't know what to think. I really feel I bombed that test. I was such a good student, I never expected to feel this way. Any input would be appreciated.
