  1. I am not in nursing school yet, I will start taking the four science pre reqs over the summer, starting with Developmental psych at QCC. I am trying to figure out the best way to attack this nursing business. I don't want to duplicate efforts and take the LPN then go back through admissions etc for the RN, but I would like to be working in the field in a way that I can have more confidence during the clinical phase, so though the LPN on the way to RN option would be great.
  2. This is a bit of an odd question but is it possible to take classes per the nursing ciriculum and sit for an LPN exam? For example, are classes that are involved in the LPN program wrapped up in the RN courseload (hope that makes sense). It seems like schools are breaking these two professions into distinct categories. Does it work that you take the certificate course for the LPN then reapply to the RN(clinical portion) program? Does being an LPN exempt you from any of the clinical requirements? I assumes the prereqs at this stage are a non issue. Has anyone done this? Kind of like trying to kill two birds with one stone kind of thing.
  3. How are you planning the change? Are you going for the LPN and then progressing to the RN? Are you going straight to the RN? Are you planning to work and do it simultaneously? I am just beginning my research. It is a little odd that all these schools have different pre clinical requirements. I have a Masters in Management so I really don't want to fork out too much more money so I am looking at anything at the AAS level. I have my eyes set on QCC as it is closest, and won't break my checkbook. I was just wondering how you plan to go about your career change? Or if you have already made the switch what would you recommend?
