My fiance is a cop :) Not in the medical field, but also in a public-service type career. I have heard that there are many nurses romantically involved with those from the law enforcement career, and it makes sense to me!

I was talking to a friend of my mom's the other day, and she said a few years ago, she was a travel nurse in New Orleans, while living in New Orleans. She said she worked, and got paid pretty high wages, plus a housing stipend, even though she lived there permanently. She also got a retirement plan and benefits and insurance through the agency she was working for. Have any of you heard of this, or do it yourselves? I will be moving to New Orleans a couple years after I graduate from Nursing School, and, this is seeming like a nice prospect to me :) Thanks!

My friend had just turned 17 when she had her baby, and it was a long labor, shift changed about 8 hours after she was admitted. She said the first nurses were being rude to her because she was so young, but after shift change, she had a wonderful nurse who kept telling her "you're doing better than most grown women, don't pay any attention to anyone who tells you otherwise!". She still remembers that nurse's name :)
