Wrong logon!

Byrd- thank you for sharing! I've definitely sensed that Hopkins (at least the prospective students/admissions office) is a lot warmer and more willing to help than Columbia. Totally different vibe. I feel your pain when it comes to public transportation in NYC too...I've been visiting family in Manhattan since I was 3 and anything beyond taxis, Amtrak, and walking absolutely intimidates me!! I went up this past weekend, in fact, and ended up leaving my eyeglasses in the west village (4th street) at 1am, realized that I'd left them after I'd gotten back to my grandmother's on E. 87th street, and had to head back downtown. Of course, it was an ordeal to get down there and back in the first place, so my second trip I opted for a $50 taxi ride. ugggh. There are a few reasons why I'd consider Columbia though, besides my extended family being up there. 1) NY Presbyterian reimburses tuition significantly once you've graduated and choose to work there for several years because of the low-income of the majority of their patients (it's some kind of status the government dictates) 2) Columbia offers student housing, which would make room and board maybe even a bit more affordable than living arrangements in B'more and 3) NY credentialing will enable you to work anywhere...alternatively, credentialing in other states doesn't necessarily qualify you to work in NY. Like you, I'm definitely waiting for financial aid packages, and I'm hoping that JHU comes through...but it's definitely nice to have options!! ASH- What's this about Columbia and $20,000 ? They didn't mention it at open house, but it sure sounds great!!! :) Who are you guys on facebook? I'm Rachel Peltzman under the Johns Hopkins Nursing Students group!!

Ash- I'm new to this allnurses thing, but I've read through the posts and I'm sooo glad to see that your journey turned out this way!! It's like a happy ending to a novel :) Congratulations 1,000 times over, you must be so thrilled!!! From what I've read, you absolutely want Hopkins and we're all so lucky to be involved in this amazing program! Isn't Mary wonderful, too!!?? Once again, congrats! Rachel

Hey guys, such an exciting time!! I wanted to know, did anybody else apply to Columbia? I got accepted into both JHU and Columbia for their Accelerated BS/MSN programs...how are other people going about making a decision!??! I know a lot of it will have to do w/ financial aid, but other than that, any preferences? And if Hopkins is your first choice, whether or not you also applied to Columbia, what sold you on Hopkins? Besides the low cost :)
