  1. Well I tried making my dreams happen, but I realized I am not superwoman and I need to do NORMAL things. I recently got out of the accelerated BSN program thru Goldfarb in St. Louis. It literally overwhelmed me. You will have no life. I loved it.. but after a while I began to really lose it. I am not a R.N. Does anyone know of BSN programs in the IL/St. Louis area that are NOT ACCELERATED??? I am 42 with a family and just can't do the accelerated. Seems like for me (I have a masters degree in psych) the BSN seems the way to go. Anyone know of a BSN online that is not accelerated? Or a school in this area that offers BSN but not accelerated? Thanks for any help. T
  2. I do have 10 years exp in mental health. It may be a good choice if its less time on my poor dogs. Are you a counselor or a nurse or both?
  3. This sounds good also. Thanks so much for your input.
  4. Thank you so much. This job sounds ideal! Is that working for the state or a hospital?
  5. Thanks but that would drive me nuts sitting all day. I just need to sit once in a while. The thought of standing all day scares me to death. Tell me you can sit when you need to right?
  6. Thanks for your ideas. I don't mind traveling. In fact, a home health nurse would be good since I would be able t sit while I am driving to the next destination at least. Just getting thru the first 2-3 years in a hospital is what I am scared of working 12 hour shifts mostly on my feet. I am 42 and just starting. Thanks for any more ideas. T
  7. I really need some advice. I really, really want to be a nurse but I have plantar fascitis and have suffered for about 15 years. Can any of you suggest specifice jobs in the hospital I could do (as a nurse) that will allow me to sit down every now and then. There is absolutely no way my feet can take standing on them all day. Desperate for advice on where I might fit in as a nurse. Thanks so much for any replies.
  8. Thanks for posting regarding your situation. I will be in an accelerrated BSN so I'm seriously stressing. Do you mind sharing what job you do at the Casino and how much you earn? I am already swimming in debt and not sure how to make it all happen. A late night job would be great for me since I'm a night owl especailly if the money is good. How much can you earn though? Please email me at [email protected] thanks so much.
  9. hi i read your post. thank you so much for your encouragement. you are awesome. i too will be going to goldfarb. i am doing my prereq's now. i am wondering though.. how do people pay for this college? 38,000 is a lot to swallow, any advice? i already have a masters so a lot of free money is not there for me. plus i'm in serious debt already and scared i won't even qualify for a loan. the other huge fear is not being allowed to work while going for that one year. i really am stressing. i had one gal tell me her mom went to goldfarb and then went to work for barnes and they paid for all of it!! how is this possible? i know that some hospitals will pay $4000 a year of it for 3-4 years or something. anyone in my boat?
  10. I am new to this site. Hi Everyone. I am a mental health professional thinking of switching over to being a nurse. I have painful heel spurs. My one question I need help with. ... how much time do you spend on your feet as a nurse? I mean, do you ever get to sit down or would I be on my feet all day? I need to be able to sit down sometimes. This is an obstacle for me. I have a lot of energy and enjoy running around, but I can't stand on my feet for hours at a time without getting to sit down. Not sure if this is where I ask the question. But appreciate any help. Thanks. busymomt
