  1. thanks for all the support guys! i just took my first exam for the quarter, studied my a@$ off all week....and got a 68! holy crap.the class avg.was a 74%. i have came to the conculsion that some instructors honestly just enjoy people getting low grades on exams. it's like it makes them feel smarter when they see us struggle. i am a damn good student nurse and i care about this more than anyone will know, i am not going to worry about it i guess b/c i know that i busted my butt and that i can explain that entire test content better than most people. it just sucks........
  2. okay, am i the only person who feels so overwhelmed by this stuff? i honestly do not see how i am ever going to learn and remember all of the information, values, levels, terms, etc. i go to school, go to work (at a hospital),and try to see my family for at least 10 min. before they go to bed. then i stay up 'til about 2am studying.........only to have no one understand how stressed i am!! i feel like i will be the best darn nurse, if i can just make it through school!
  3. I thought of some more for ya...I used a large auto sponge and cut a deep wound into it and remove the center "cut out" to practice wet-dry/wet-damp dressings. Also, I took a rubber glove, cut one of the fingers off and poked a safety pin thru the end of it. Then I cut a sliver out of the top of an old large butter tub and pulled the rubber finger thru it to create a drain (I drew a suture line near it w/permanent marker). This was awesome to help practice cleaning and doing those darn drain dressings w/ a no touch technique at home where you can screw up as often as you like and no one can see but your family!!
  4. :bowingpur I practiced enemas using a detergent bottle w/a hole in the side of it and a sponge over the hole to make it more realistic....I am assuming your husband won't let you practice that on him! Also, hotdogs for injections work well especially for Intradermal. If I think of more I will post it.......hope that helps a little.
