Let me just say that the GRE is one of the easiest steps in becoming a CRNA. If you really want it, you will gladly cut off both legs and trade them for a Kaplan test prep course and 3 months of studying to get a decent score.

You should definitely check out the CRNA route. Find someone to go and shadow. I felt the exact same way when I was an ICU nurse. I feel much better about what I do on a daily basis for my patients.

There is no real way of knowing how prepared you are until you actually get into the OR and do it yourself. Shadowing a CRNA for 40 hours will not tell you how prepared you are because the great ones make anesthesia look easy.
