Getting started as MDS nurse
Thank you so much for the reply as it is old.....I am still very interested in doing MDS..I have worked in LTC for 10 years..have completed the Restorative section of MDS when I was Restorative nurse. I have taught the entire staff about using the Kiosk to enter their data for the MDS. I have sat in on the weekly meetings to discuss the data that would be used for the MDS..so I am very familiar with the system. The big problem is....no one is hiring in my area, or the ones that are I would not set foot into. Probably the most challenging issue is everyone who needs a MDS nurse wants at least 2-3 years experience. So, you can see my frustration. Again, thank you for the response :wink2:

MDS training unavailable in Georgia
hello again! i recently posted an inquiry for mds training in georgia-unfortunately the replys i received were several years old and i think probably automatic responses from wherever? i really would like to get the training-i live in georgia-my state has cancelled all training for the remainder of the year, nrai also has cancelled atlanta for the year. i have even contacted tennessee, alabama, s. carolina, and florida. no response from those states:(--does anyone have any ideas out there--and no--can't get a job around here without experience. i am unable to work the floor in an snf to possibly get "into" the position d/t back surgery so this is not an option either. if anyone has participated in online stuff-please let me know-i don't care to pay for a "junk" program-i want quality stuff. many thanks to you out there who can give constructive, quality info!

Re-entry advise-please
Help me!!! This is my first time posting here so here goes--I have been out of nursing now for nearly 5 years(actual hands on) since then I have been a practicing massage therapist. My dilemma is this: I love nursing and want to get back into it but at this point I am not hireable. Skill rusty etc... Another issue is this-in nursing school I feel I did not have the most educational patients in clinicals and I feel I did not really learn what I needed to learn which has made me very low in self esteem. I have never worked in a hospital after graduation either. What oh what can I do to get this ball rolling again? :thankya:I have been out of school since 1994. Ya know-I didn't even learn how to actually put on EKG leads-only on paper. Any suggestions will be really appreciated.
