  1. Hi.. Thanks for the response! I started there a week ago, I am a new LPN. I passed my boards in January and due to some health problems (D&C-and gallbladder surgery) I had to put my search on hold till recently. I am still in orientation till Saturday (I think), I just am not sure if I should give 2 wks, leave a note or what to do. Thanks again!
  2. Hi Thank you all for your feedback. I have been working now for about a week and have decided I think I should have gone to a smaller facility. The staff has been really supportive (well, most of them), I just feel as if I am in way over my head. So..this is my question...Do I leave now, during orientation giving 2 wks notice or leave a note for the DON, (she is pretty unapproachable) or what..I am really not trying to sound flaky..just right now I don't even know if nursing is for me. Help!
  3. I passed my boards in Jan. and had a few health problems..D&C, gallbladder surgery ect.. I recently accepted a job in LTC..they weren't honest about the patient ratio. (I was told 25:1-actually 35:1) and right now feeling like I made a huge mistake, going into LTC. I just am in a panic about learning everyone's names (patients) and not sure if nursing is it...any advice?
  4. I hope I don't sound like a total basket case! I just want to do well and I wasn't sure if what they were telling me was within the norm..us new nurses can drive everyone insane!!!! Thanks all
  5. Ok..had my 1st orientation today, all types of paperwork (new hire stuff) I talked with the person running it, turns out ..surprise, surprise my actual orientation is going to be 3 days, with the last 2 of the original 5 days, another nurse on the opposite hall, or someone should be able to help. I think my biggest fear is knowing who's who..any hints on trying to remember everyone?
  6. Need help here! I recently had a job offer BUT the "orientation" on the med cart/paperwork is 5 days, this is in LTC. I did ask in the interview if I had resources to ask questions..yes, there is a nursing superv. When I interviewed I told them I wanted/needed between 2-3 days a week, when they called back to offer me the job, yes, 2-3 days a week and eow. So...I called the scheduling person back and verified what exactly I will be working, I stuck to my guns on the 2-3 days a week, they didn't sound to thrilled. I am really confused-I am a new nurse and unsure if this is the "norm", short orientation and discussion about hours already. Thanks!!
  7. I think my main hesitation is I don't want to be "job hopping" and as a new nurse, I feel as if I need a more consistent schedule. I think my biggest fear is trying to get the organizational aspect down and only being there a few days a month. Thanks for responding. I am STILL undecided!!! I have 2 more interviews tomorrow and 1 next week. Hopefully, I will find a fit SOON!!!!! Thanks again
  8. Hi, I am a new grad and I have been interviewing for jobs, basically in LTC, right now I have an offer for every other w/e and if more hrs become available they will call. I am hesitating due to accept due to the uncertainity of it all. Any advice? Thanks
  9. Evening..I am a new LPN and have been reading some of the posts on here and I have noticed a few people mention they had to take a math test. What does that include? I am in the process of looking for a job, just wanted to know what I would be expecting. Thanks!
