  1. OK, talked to VCCS. They said that each school makes the decision wether to admit in the Fall and Spring. Germanna just decided to admit in the spring only because they were not getting the numbers.
  2. Not sure where JTCC is but my home school is Germanna. Each school gets 10 slots and they have only filled 5 of those so far.
  3. I heard a rumor yesterday from my counselor that the commonwealth program will be going to a every spring entrance instead of spring and fall. This is suppose to start this year. They are just not getting the numbers that they had hoped for. I also hear that the students from the first round had better NCLEX results and attrition rates. I am looking at this program right now too. I will dig deeper into the rumor and find out more.
  4. I contacted the RN-MSN program that I would like to enter and they told me they will only accept applicants that have gone to a NLN approved nursing school. So that makes the decision easier for me!
  5. All good advice. I will plan a visit to the school and ask some hard questions. So state accred. is not enough in your opinion?
  6. I spoke with the director of nursing at one of the major hospital chains in my area. She basically told me that as long as the school is approved by the state it doesn't matter to them what school a nurse has gone too. Has this been your experience with the hiring process?
  7. Would you attend a school that wasn't NLNAC accredited? even though it is approved by the state?
  8. They are both good programs and both state accredited...I just have no idea how the difference will affect my future studies and career.
  9. I have 2 RN programs near me, both without waiting list. They are both ASN programs. One is accredited nationwide and one is not, they are both accredited through the state. Does it matter that the school is only accredited through the state? What type of accred. or certifications should I look for when selecting a school? Thanks for the help! Crystal
