Being a Phil. nursing student, my friends are advicing me that the fastest way to go/work in US is to be a RN in the Phil, pass the NCLEX, a little experience, get a US tourist visa, go to US, look for a job as a walkin applicant, if lucky someone hires me and is willing to process my working visa, then i go back home and wait for my working visa. They said that its faster to get a work in US when you are applying in US rather than applying from outside the US. Is it true? Comments please...

Supposedly there is this high school graduate from the Philippines who wishes to work/migrate abroad using any health care profession as her means.... What strategy and what country (US aside) would you advice to this person if its goal is to go out the least expensive way and with the least time possible (no marriage with other national)?

i guess so.. thank you for your help... i was a bit confused because of the conflicts of your advices and what employers are trying to say... the reason i requested clarifications is because before i discovered this forum, i tried emailing some potential employers and two of them were positive... here is what they wrote: (1)first email: good morning, thank you for your interest in "x". we would be delighted to accept your resume for an rpn/lpn position in one of our residences. please feel welcome to e-mail your resume to us via this e-mail address for our review and consideration. also, i encourage you to visit the careers section of our website "x" to learn more about future opportunities as they become available. have a wonderful weekend, "x" (2) 2nd email yes, we do consider hiring overseas pn nurses in our retirement homes in "a", "b" and "c". contact the managers at any of those three facilities with your resume once completed your schooling. thank you for your interest. "Even if you meet requirements for LPN with nursing boards the issue is immigration and most require RN unless you get work permit through marriage and still meet nursing requirements" Hi Silverdragon.. Can you give me the link to the website stating that RN and not LPN is required to get a work permit in Canada? I want to read all about it. I was unsucessful looking for that in Canada immigration websites.

Thank you very much for your advice regarding the LPN issue... DEfinitely, il be shifting to BSN. Im so grateful I encountered this website early on. One more question though, hoping for enlightenment.. Before you gave me the advice, I emailed several potential PN employers (those who are hiring PN) in Canada. Two of these employers actually replied to me and said that they do hire internationally educated PN's and even told me to contact me again once I have graduated... Why is this so? Does these mean they are just kidding around?
