Looking for LPN school in Colorado
It was just the interest rate (high to start with), and the variable feature. I just didn't like the fact that the payment went up. I didn't mean to imply that it was a poor choice. By no means would I say "Don't get the loan". Certainly, get the loan and get in school! :) Good Luck! Deanna

Help choosing classes at PPCC
Hey there, my first semester I took the prereq to the A&P classes, BIO 104 and PSY 101. Personally, I found it quite doable. It's easier than this year, BIO 201 and ENG 121. :) I plan on taking BIO 202 and Micro together as well. I've had several people tell me it wasn't as bad as they thought. I figure, this is all good prep for full time nursing programs! Good Luck! Deanna

Thanks. My husband is insisting that we can swing that next year. :kiss I am not sure what he has in mind, maybe alot of OT. :) And I think I'll attempt to go back to work as a trainer while I am doing these prereqs, that might help if I can save. I had a Sallie Mae loan before. And vowed I'd never do it again, so I guess, unintentionally, I won't! :) Anyone know of any other decent loan vendors out there? Deanna :typing

Looking for LPN school in Colorado
Regarding financing.... So, I applied to SLM, got denied. It's not surprising at all, I have average credit, we sold our home and have quite a bit of debt from my sons special needs. Does anyone have any other solutions for financing? Does the full payment need to be made up front? Does DSON offer any sort of payment plans? Thanks for the help! Deanna

Newbie here!/School questions!
For me, the *difference* could be paid with half a years salary as an RN, that I'll have 4 years prior at DSON, than at the CC level- and, if you do the math and take the low end of nursing salaries, it will amount to about $100k (or quite a bit more really even if you make $40k for the first 4 years that alone is $160k over the course of a your career), if I retire at the same age regardless of where I go to school. :) I am one semester away from the waiting list at the CC's. OR, one semester away from being able to start the classes at DSON. Which, I'd actually start before I could get on the waiting list! I Actually thought I had an additional semester to go... But, figuring out HOW to pay for DSON is the tricky part.

Where are the Accredited Programs?
What Denver Metro area schools ARE accredited? I looked up ACC today, it wasn't listed, and I guess I believed all along it was. I know DSON isn't... but why is there so much talk about that but not the other schools that aren't? What schools are after all? :) Deanna

Newbie here!/School questions!
I am joining the billions of people on the waitings lists here soon! One, maybe two more semesters of the prereqs to get on the waiting lists. Right now I am at ACC for my prereqs. Personally, I have no issues with the school at all. So far I feel like my education has been of quality and value. The wait list there is 3 years. That just seems rediculous. BUT, I understand the shortage of teachers, ect.... The program is about $15k. I interviewed at Concorde, I didn't leave with a positive feeling, it's very far from me and it's quite costly. I also spoke with someone from HR at Health One, and she highly advised against the school. Of course, she didn't elaborate. I am more than sure many people are getting a good educatoin there. I just don't think it was for me. All the CC's have waiting lists. I got that much. :) BUT- I am still researching Denver School of Nursing. I understand they are not accredited. I would love to speak with a student(s) that are currently attending. Any word on when they expect to be accredited? I have heard positive things about them, and not so positive. Of course, I imagine that goes for anywhere! Anyone have any other resources for school aside from the Community College System? Email me as well if you are a DSON student or graduate! I'd love to chat!
