January 2012 Barry University CRNA program
For those who attend Barry, when you say "run your own room", does that mean you are the only anesthesia provider present? Or are you being observed by a CRNA/ Anesthesiologist while making all of the decisions? How early are you expected to complete a case on your own? Thanks!

January 2012 Barry University CRNA program
I interviewed for Barry in June. The interview consisted of a financial aid presentation, the chemistry/ critical care quiz, and the personal interview. The interview is very laid back.. why you want to be a crna, why Barry, have you shadowed, how have you prepared to enter the program... I was not asked any clinical questions. The quiz consisted of general chem, organic chem, and critical care questions...reviewing basic concepts (such as naming etc.) may help prepare you. However, I have heard that performance on the quiz does not influence admission to the program.

January 2012 Barry University CRNA program
I will be starting with Barry in January (hopefully at the Tampa clinical site) and currently live in Tampa. From what I understand, the Barry campus is located in or close to carollwood which is a decent area. However, the campus is also very close to south tampa which is a great area, although more expensive, so the commute would not be too bad...

Concerns about becoming a CNM
Hi all- I would love to become a CNM but am worried that it will be difficult to get a job after I graduate. Can someone please tell me what the job market is like for CNM's and their experience with finding work once certified? Does this vary according to geographic location? And based on experience, are CNM's widely used in the US? I have done plently of research on the profession, and know that I will absolutely love being a CNM...I just don't want to finish the program and feel like I am stuck. Thanks!

Being an SRNA
Hi SRNA's- Can someone please tell me what it is like preparing for CRNA school (such as your work experience in the ICU, extra courses you took to get into school, GPA, GRE scores) as well as what it is like in CRNA school. How many hours do you spend in classes, in clinicals, and studying? Do you find that you still have free time, even if very little? If you had to do it all over again, would you still want to be a nurse anesthetist? Thanks!:wink2:

Women's Health Nurse Practitioner
Hi All- Can someone please tell me what it is like being a women's health nurse practitioner? How involved can you be with OB? What is a typical day at work like (either in hospital or private practice)? Do you find your job both rewarding and enjoyable?

Nurse Anesthetist as a career
Hi All: I am about to start an accelerated nursing program (to become an RN) and then would like to apply to an anesthetist program. To be completely honest, I do not know too much about the CRNA as a career... other than what I have read online... can someone give me some personal input?Such as do you find it rewarding? Was it a good decision to become one etc... Thanks!
