  1. Ir seems to me...the more prestigious the institution, the meaner and more back-stabbing are the nurses.
  2. I'm a home care nurse who could use some advice from you wound specs...my pt has bilateral venous stasis ulcers to lower legs. Very edematous, weepy, bumpy skin---The order is for Aquacell AG to weepy areas, cover with 4x4s, wrap with Kerlix, then with ACE. (3x/wk) The problem is the Ace wraps never stay on between visits. My wound care nurse says I have to wrap with a spiral. I think a figure-8 would stay better, but she says that's "too much compression." (Unna's boot already ruled out by doc)--any ideas?
  3. They have a stupid rule there that anytime you do ANYTHING for the 1st time--you have to be supervised. I mean ANYTHING... wet-to-dry dsg, removing staples, etc. Very nerve-racking.
  4. "Don't fit in"---unbelieveable!!! But at least they were honest with you!!!
  5. Back to home care after too many years of stress on the floor-- Not what I remembered. The same cliques, the same backbiting---fired after 6 weeks because my so-called "mentors" went straight to management with "mistakes" (skills that I did differently from "their way" or things I was just plain rusty on)---punitive instead of the learning curve it's supposed to be. Fired me out of the blue after 6 wks for such things such as not wrapping a leg the way "the right way." Also, I'm very nearsighted--they noticed I have to look up very close to fill an insulin needle. They're correct--isn't that all that matters? Humiliated; spoken to in a very condescending way in front of pts-- Once again, it's no different than the hospital. You have to belong to the sorority. I've had it with nurses and nursing.
