    How nice to see that most of us are still in nursing to take care of others. The fact that everyday is a new one and we do not take it for granted is a refresher. I wish all of us were on the same page. Thank you!:kiss

  3. Getting tired of it, working short that is

    Here at a 300 bed hospital, the nursing ratios run from 5:1 tele to 6:1 med surg 24/7. On an occasional bad shift (a call out we cant replace) the ratios can be 7:1. No agency is ever used. What you are practicing is unsafe!

    I am A DON at an acute care hospital of 224 licensed beds. We usuallly have a census of 230-260, really! Our units are all 36 bed private rooms. Except of course the ICU/CCU are 16 bed units and mother baby are 12-14 bed units, but all private rooms...

  12. Sick call policy

    Ours is an unwritten policy, that states if you call in on a weekend you will make it up. Sometimes it may not be the following weekend, since our schedules are made up a month at a time. But you will make it up by the next schedule.
