  1. My mom has been off work for about five months and they first diagnosed her with vertigo and she was recieving physical therapy for it but it wasnt working. So she went to the doctor again and they did a ultra-sound on her neck to look at her arteries and didnt see anything so they did acouple CAT scans and found that she has a growth on her thyriod. They've done a biopsy on it and found it to not be cancer which is good, but it still left her without any answers because she doesnt have veritgo anymore and has passed all of those tests to rule that out. Well she has been recently diagnosed with Maniere's Disease it is caused by an infection in the inner ear getting into the bones and they slowly causing hearing loss, i think. She has been put on a dieretic for the disease and has changed her diet to only 1 tsp of salt a day so a very low sodium diet and has only been on this for about a week but cut the salt out acouple weeks ago because she thought she had it to and feels better over all but is still dizy. But the doctors wont remove her thyriod because of the risk of the procedure and its not causing any problems. But is it possible at all for the growth to be pressing on a nerve and causing these symptoms?
  2. i guess what i want to know is if its even possble for me to get a job in the medical feild without a degree or certificate in anything??
  3. all the schools that i have looked at applying to have been five years and those where in oregon, idaho, nevada and california.
  4. I was looking at working in a nursing home this summer and was wondering if that would even be possible in the state of oregon since i dont have my nursing degree. I want to know what i would be able to do at one to. I was considering doing it to get some money for school that would also be in a medical type setting. If anyone has any information about this or any other job that would be great!
  5. I cant find the answer to a question for my class on the internet or in my book. Jay bechenstein went to weight-lifting camp in the summer between seventh and eight grade. He noticed that the camp trainer put tremendous pressure on himand his friends to improve their strength. After an especially vigorous workout, jay's arm felt extremely sore and weak around the elbow. He went to the camp doctor, who took X rays and then told him that the injury was serious, for the "end of his upper arm bone was starting to twist off." What happened? Could the same thing happen to Jay's 23 yr old sister who was also starting a weight training program? I am assuming here that the damage to his bone is because he is increasing his weights when hes lifting to quickly because of the camp trainer is tellling him to and that his bones arent adampting as quickly because they are trying to grow therefore it is causing the bone to "twist off". Also I am guessing here that the same thing cant happen to his older sister because her bones arent developing like his are.. This is my best educated guess just want to know if I am right or not???
  6. I have been planning on going to school at a community college but was looking at a catalog for a university and it looked like it would be easier. What would be the benifits of going to a university vs. going to a community college? besides the obviouse ones like its going to be cheaper and i can get a BS at a university and not at a community college. Just clearifing this one you can get your A.S at a community college and still be an RN or does that depend on the program? Sorry for asking all these questions ive just asked a lot of people and i feel like ive been lied to by them now that ive got answers from you guys
  7. thanks daytonite for all the help the links youve given me i have been looking at all morning and it has helped things be alittle more clearer and not as scary and unknown. Ive heard a lot about how when going through nursing school you cant have a social life because of the studying it is going to require you to do. how true is that? Also is your GPA really looked at that much to get into a program and how hard is that going to be?
  8. I am a senior in High school and started my pre-req's this fall term I am taking Anatomy and Physiology and Psychology. I found out the hard way that these classes are alittle different then what my high school classes are when i saw my scores from my mid-term. I am at that stage in high school where i know what i want to do with my life i am just really scared about how to get there. I have had so many people tell me that i wouldnt make a very good nurse because i have a strong personality and am very stubborn, ive even had teachers tell me this. I have always wanted to be a nurse i really want to be a Labor and Delivery nurse but i have a major fear of needles and am very afriad that this will hold me back once i get into a program. Since i also dont want to be in school forever so i want to know what would be the benifits of being a RN verses being a CNA? I could really use the advice anything would help right now!!!
