Visa Screen Cerificate, help question please
okay so here is what I got from my husband paralegal: "She’s a derivative. The visa screen certificate does not need to be valid to file for adjustment of status. It is only for purposes of her working. Since she is not working, there is not a problem." the question is if I still need to ask for a VSC when I'll start working in the hospital here in VA, or my legal status neutralizes that?

Visa Screen Cerificate, help question please
Is anyone here that went trough the same process that I am in right know, to share his/her experience? Thank you much! As far as I know after I did some research, you have to be the main applicant in the process in order to be asked to file a Visa Screen Certificate. I have one, but expired this Sept. fortunately I still got my credentials and all my diplomas from Europe, saved and approved in GCFNS' database. They have a new very fast service for VSC but the cost is round $500 Silverdragon102, you've been a wise and a great help throughout the years, thank you for that! :) I hope you don't mind if I ask you one more question... Let's say that the state requires a VSC, do you know for what stage of the process is required? Is required in the process of obtaining a Green Card or is required as an RN after I get my working permit? I know the question may sound naive... but I really don't know and I don't have an answer yet from my husband lawyers

Visa Screen Cerificate, help question please
Hello everyone, I'm sorry for opening a "new" topic, I'm almost certain that this is an old discussed problem probably still an opened thread in some corner of the forum. I'm an RN licensed in VA, in 2008 after I passed all my international exams and my boards. I came here with my husband on a dependent visa. I'm a home staying mom, happy that I will finally be able to go to work. My husband application for a GC went further and we have been made current a few days ago. My dilemma: as a dependent on my husband application, do I need a Visa Screen Certificate in order for me to work? I repeat, I'm not the main applicant in the process, I'm just a dependent on his visa. Thank you for all the help that you guys provided me with throughout the years in my ordeal... and thank you again in advance for any answer

CGFNS in Va?
Unfortunately you have to pass the CGFNS exam in VA to go further with the process. First you have to pass the credentials, then you'll be eligible for the CGFNS exam. I can't lie, is a very stressful and hard one to pass... after the CGFNS stage completed, second step, iBT toefl, visascreen certificate (easy to obtain), than you are eligible for the NCLEX. I live here in VA, and I had to stand for the CGFNS exam. Beside the credential evaluation process, visa screen and English proficiency exam I had to pass to foreign nurses exam (CGFNS) in order for me to be able to stand for the national one (NCLEX)... NCLEX compared with the CGFNS exam was a piece of pie... again, I'm not trying to discourage you, just let you know that you have to be in very good shape for that exam... study day and night... or you can relocate in a state that doesn't require CGFNS exam :)... Good luck!

how long to get a CES report (CGFNS)
...relax, sooner then you think they will mail the papers. It's a matter of days judging after the activity on your account. Good luck with everything! I hope that your documents are meeting the requirements and they are mailed in your needed time frame. Keep us posted and keep on e-mailing questions to the CGFNS people, especially if you have things that are unclear to you...

how long to get a CES report (CGFNS)
Your school needs to send directly the papers. And you need to pay first for any CGFNS service before the papers are needed. You.. (first step) have to log on on CGFNS site, you'll find there all the necessary info. You have to create an account and carefully complete all the question that they ask, the questions are about your education, your medical stages and your license. After creating the CGFNS account, you select the service that you want them to process for you and they'll keep you up-dated on your on-line account, they'll ask for all the necessary papers that they need in the process you selected. They will mail all the papers that need to be completed at your school. You cannot mail to CGFNS the papers directly... all the papers have to be sealed and mailed by the school and your right to practice as a nurse (your license) has to be mailed in a sealed envelope also, by your national BON, or by ministry of health department. If you need more info just send me a PM... Good luck! Janette87, it was a matter of days also in my case... good luck to you too! keep writing them! :)

how long to get a CES report (CGFNS)
I've passed trough CGFNS examn, Nclex and ibToefl... I remember that the CGFNS exam was so hard and such a stressful exam. My papers had a long way from Europe till here, I remember that waiting for all the papers to be received in order to be eligible for CES report, and in my case after the CES report to stand for CGFNS exam, took like a year round, but the CES process, after all the papers were submitted by my school and my home-country BON, I had it in max. two months. I can't remember more exactly, but was a quick process. I used to communicate with the people from CGFNS via e-mail. They were prompt all the time and my complaining or my questions were resolved, respectively answered promptly. My colleagues were using phone call and I recall that they were always unsatisfied. In your on-line account, on the personal pop-up window, on the left side, where you have the menu options, the CONTACT US link get you trough the whole process, all the personal data and your order number are automatically inserted, just have to write down your problem and submit. They will answer shortly....and keep writing them on the same matter, things will speed up. Good luck!

thank you for your advices ghillbert! ...that is the reason for my first posting...are nursing agency safe for a foreign nurse like me? and if so...which one do you recommend me? I've did legally research about the volunteering on H4 and I'm allowed to work as a volunteer only for a non-profit organization. That means that nobody within that organization gets payed for their job, every single person is an unpaid volunteer I have a few choices, I just need my papers to be done and just take the night shift and trying to be helpful and get some more experience instead... have a nice night and thank you again:loveya:

thank you guys for your support and for your experience... yes, I do have the SSN from a previous status, I'm legal here I do not need to go back to my country... we do not have an GC yet, as I said my husband is in a process of getting one... i already spoke with the best attorneys in the emigration field, specialized on foreign nurses and they told me that i need to find a sponsor...i do not have the right to work on my actual status, but i'm free to look up for a sponsor... once the sponsor apply for my change of status, my legal status is gonna change...I'll get the right to work As the silverdragon posted earlier, the waiting line for GC is huge...and could take like 2-3 years...this is what the attorney told me, but it;s legal to look up for sponsorships, only that the process will be long and there are not so many hospitals willing to wait that amount of time ... ...so it's frustrating to pass trough so many exams, to pay so many fees and not be able to practice... so many sleepless nighs, so many days i kept my kids indoors because I had to study... i hope I'll get my repay and I'll be free to practice my profession soon... i miss that
