career advice
hi! so i am kind of stuck here at this point in my life and i dont really know what i want. I just graduated from the university at buffalo with a bachelors in science of nursing last saturday but i am not too excited about bedside nursing, i think dont it is really for me so I started looking into graduate programs but i still dont know what to do. I am considering either Nursing/Biomedical Informatics or Health Care Policy and Administration. The one problem is that I have looked at what jobs are out there for these programs and lot of them require 5+ years of experience and if I graduate from these programs will I find a job, since I dont have that many years of experience. I am also scared that I won't like the program I am in and waste a semester. Any advice?? mel

Nursing Student Graduating in May 2010
Hi everyone! I have a question, I am a nursing student who is about to graduate next year, May 2010 but I intended to go to grad school the following fall of 2010 but I would like to find either a part-time or full time job at a clinic or a private office, particularly in Ob/Gyn. The reason why I am not looking at hospital is because I do not believe I can do a night shift (since I am a new grad) and go to school during the day. What are people's opinions and suggestions about new grads and clinics/private offices? Do they hire new grads? and one more question how and where do I start looking for jobs? ( I live in NYC) thank you!

Nursing Informatics
Hi I am in my first year of nursing school and it is going pretty well. I seem to like it but I would like to get my master's degree in something and I cam across nursing informatics. I am really good with computers and technology so i think this might be suitable for me. I have many questions about this career that the internet couldnt help me answer. If there are any nurses out there who specialize in informatics please let me know what you do, where you work, do you still get to work with patients or is it more computer work? I know i get can a masters in informatics but i heard about the certificate, what is the difference? Also i am worried about finding a job with this specialty. What is the job outlook as of right now? What are nurses called that specialize in informatics? Do all hospitals hire informatics? I live in NYC and i plan to work there but i am currently in school at buffalo. if someone could help me that would be great!

Graduate Programs - Which to choose?
Hi everybody! I'm new to this forum and I have so many questions to ask. Let me introduce myself, my name is Melissa and I am a pre-nursing student who will be a nursing student in the fall of 08. I know its early to think about graduate programs but I like to get a head start. I am considering Nurse Anesthesia or Nurse Administration. I've looked into Nurse Anesthesia and its overwhelming but I haven't found much on Nurse Administration. Can anyone tell me about it? Like what are their duties, how many hours they work, what they do work on, do they work with patients? and anything else would be helpful. Thank You.
