One more thing. P in this case =preterm. Wehn you are thinking of parity, that is the number of actual births. sometimes the letters are GPTPAL, but rarely. Usually if parity is considered, as in actual hospital paperwork, then they write it out. Also, someone might ask, "what is her parity?" which is like asking, "what is her GTPAL?" That would sound weird. So, they ask, "what is her parity?" and you would respond, "She is a G5, T_, ..." . let me know if that helps. Good luck.

G= number of pregnancies, so in this case 5 actual pregnancies (it doesn't matter how many babies per pregnancy) T= the number of births at term (37 weeks or more). In this case 3 P= preterm births (before 37 weeks yet viable). so in this case 3 births were viable and preterm Well how does T+P=a number greater than G? do not confuse pregnancies with births. WE need to think it out. If A= biological children that were Aborted (spontaneous or electively), in this case 1. A still counts toward pregnancy (G) we only have a L of 5. L= living children, despite 7 possible babies (T+P+A) So, 5 pregnancies, 1 aborted or non-viable birth which could have been a twin that did not make it-which is common. I am guessing she had two sets of twins where in one set, one died, and then 3 single pregnancies. I am pretty sure, but let me know if you find an error.
