  1. Thanks guys! I was accepted the guidance counseling M.ED program. I am gonna put it on hold just in case things dont work out. I applyed to an associates and a bsn program. I was already accepted to the bsn but I probably will wait for the associates. The associates program actually has 100% pass rate on the NCLEX. And it is considered to be a way better program than the BSN program that I was accepted to. After I get my associates I am planning to do a bridge program RN-MSN. I dont really want another Bachelors degree. The one I currently have might actually come in handy as a Psychiatric nurse which is what I wanted to be in the 1st place. If all fails Guidance Counseling M.ED here I come!
  2. I have been thinking about doing nursing for a while. When I was in high school I was afraid of blood so I always new that I would not do nursing. However, as I went off to college to study psychology I considered changing my major to nursing and I did for a year. Then my best friend started telling me that I would never be able to be a good nurse. She was telling me about how hard the classes are and reminding me of my fear of blood. Therefore, I dropped nursing and went back to psychology. Now almost 2 years later with a BS in psychology I am out of work b/c my job as a social worker totally flopped. Now I am having a hard time finding work. I am considering going to grad school for guidance counseling or pursuing a 2nd degree in nursing. I know that a degree in nursing= job security. Guidance counseling I am not to sure about. I am soooooooo confused! My mom wants me to do nursing, my dad wants me to be an accountant or lawyer, or something in law enforcement, my older brother wants me to be a teacher, my sister does not care, my other brother want me to do nursing and my best friend wants me to go back to social work. All I want to do is help people and I know that I can get over the fear of blood. I am on the shy side but I do not think it will hinder my work as a nurse. I am so lost and confused. I was told that my fear of blood is really a fear of pain and suffering. Mainly because of I can see a pool of blood on the floor and have no reaction but if I see it, flowing from on open wound my blood will start to crawl. In addition, I have never seen an open wound in person only on TV. Anyway, I have the tendency to be long winded so I will stop here. Please help me I need advice! Abbie:o
  3. Try volunteering at a local hospital and to build experience and network for recommendations. Hope this helps b/c I have been thinking about doing this for awhile. Its the only way that I know of to get your foot in the door. I like that fact that you are doing the CNA first. abbie:idea:
