Since BSN and MSN nursing programs seeking accreditation are strongly advised to use the AACN Essentials during program development, there is much similarity between programs. Transferability depends on the accepting institution. Sometimes the AACN Essentials material is grouped differently than another institution so transfer becomes an issue. Some institutions do not transfer in upper degree courses. Learning materials are online and designed to guide self-learning to meet competiencies. Mentors work with you on a regular basis. Sometimes students are required to go to a testing center for proctored objective exams. Usually the testing site (public library, coleges, Sylvan, Prometric, etc.) is within driving distance.
