I know its been a few months since the last post, but I just thought I would bring this back, since there are new members everyday.

Does being a EMT-B count?

I was just wondering if anyone here had any problems with Excelsior in Ky(especially eastern ky)? I was also wondering what is required to do the Excelsior Program(anything that requires you to travel, or can't be done online) I was told that you have to go to Ny, Ga,or Wi to take a CPNE test. I'm currently enrolled in my local college for Diesel Technology, but thought about a change.. Thanks, Josh

Well as of now Air Methods owns all operators in Eastern Ky, that I'm aware of. There is Lifenet Ky4 which is based in Hazard, Medflight 1 which is based at Big Sandy Regional Airport, and Medflight 2 which is based in Ashland, Statcare, and Healthnet also does alot of flights here. May I ask where you are located? I'm not for sure about expansion, but I do believe that all the aircraft are new, or only a few months old... Some are now equipped with Night Vision.

I would in no way base a career on how easy it is to get a date, or on a TV show... But in my entire life I have probably never saw more than 5 male nurses... I didnt know how females would precieve male nurses, or resp. therapist, etc...... I wasnt meaning anything by it. I only wanted some opinions... Like I said before Eastern Ky is VERY rural... I wasn't trying to infer in anyway that just because your a Male and a Nurse that your not straight... A friend of mine is a Male RN, EMT-P, and is a Filght Medic/RN as well as a Medical Base Supervisor... I wouldn't base a career on attracting females, although that would be nice...... But there is alot of stereotyping where I'm from, so I just wanted some opinions.. I live in a very Rural Region of Eastern Ky, where I would estimate around 0-4 Male Nurses per a Hospital at most. Most of the guys here do Surface Coal Mining, or Underground Coal Mining, or something of that nature. But again I was in no way trying to infer, just because your a Male and a Nurse, that your not straight... For the record, I was planning on being a Flight Nurse if I go with nursing, but I have to have 5yrs of expirience....

I don't really know how to answer that..lol I'm 18, 6'3, 240lbs., brown hair, green eyes, and not to brag but 17in. biceps..lol

This is just something I've been wondering, I'm not in no way trying to offend anyone... Im obvisouly a male, and I'am straight... I just graduated high school, and I'm considering my college options, which do include Respiratory Therapist, RN, Diesel Technology, Welding, and a few more... Would you(Female Nurses) rather date someone in the Medical Field(Male RN, Resp. Therapy, etc....) or someone in another career field? Most people will probably think this is a crazy question.... But like I said this is just a question that I've been thinking about, and I'm not trying to offend anyone in anyway...

Just wondering can you direct me as to where it says anything about RT to RN... I have looked all over the page and I cant find anything.... Any help is appreciated... Also can you tell me what its like to be a RT? Thanks, Josh

Just wondering if anyone uses or has used a Kila Stethoscope from http://www.kila.com/? If so are they worth the money? What are the advantages, and disadvantages?

I was just wondering if day shift nurses have different task than night shift nurses.(ie. bathing, medication, etc....)

I'm starting college in the Fall, and I can't decide between RN and RRT. At my local college, the RN program has much stricter admissions than the RRT program. Can someone tell me the pros and cons of each job, and maybe the salary difference, and any other opinion's anyone might have is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Josh

This is just another thing I wanted to say.... Even if the pt hadn't requested it be changed, still shouldn't she should of checked it every now and then??? If so she should of knew that it needed to be changed. But like I said Im just a senior in HS, and I dont really know how all of this works yet.

Im just a senior in HS, but I don't think its right to make anyone suffer by not being able to breath when it would of only took a few minutes to change his trach tube. But thats just my opinion.

Im a senior in high school, and my first couple of years I didnt do so well(the i'm not going to college thing), but over a short period of time things changed, and now Im afraid even if I keep a 4.0 in college, I wont get accepted into my local CRNA school. What do any of you think? Im so worried right now...
