  1. Thank you for the information. I really appreciate it. When I asked about residents I was refering to physicians. Yes, why do you "believe" the other hosptial shut down psych admissions? How long have you been a Psych nurse?
  2. Hello I need some help with Psych questions. Our facility is in process of deciding if we want to keep our unit or not. Many other hospital based programs have closed their doors. Can you answer for me the following if you have a unit: what types of patients do you take do you have admission criteria do you have an admission nurse-if so where do they work and what hours (this is for psych only) residents or not what makes your program successful do you have outpatient services what kind of work have you done with the community how big is your unit what do you do for safety precautions--security 24/7, alert buttons, etc what kind of training does the staff perform Any suggestions for moving our program along I want our program to be excellent within our community but I can't seem to get any benchmarking information to help me.
  3. Hello I am working on revising our current IV policies for PICC, central lines, and peripheral lines. I have some questions that are not addressed in the standards I reviewed and wondered what you do at your facility. Do you dilute meds before giving IVP through a running IV? how about an adapted IV? Can any nurse access a port at your facility? Do you use a preprinted order sheet for IV's--define type, if you can use if for various things? flushes and volumes and frequency? This is more pertinent to central lines and picc's. If not how do you get an order--do you ask on admission or is it a protocol? would you be willing to share? Who puts PICC lines in at your institution? Do you use prefilled flushes? I think that is it for now--any input would be greatly appreciated.
