I knew I didn't want to go the private school route (too expensive), so I was determined to find a state college that would accept me. My pre-req GPA wasn't the greatest 3.3 and I knew I wouldn't get accepted at HCC where I did my pre-reqs so I tried PHSC and got in. If you get high TEAS scores (mine was 77.3) you have a chance to get in. As far as retaking classes, I believe you can take the same class at PHSC that you got a C in and if you get a better grade you can use that when you apply so your GPA will be higher. Also, if you know you are going to end up with a C in micro I suggest asking your teacher to just give you a D so you can retake it since it may be too late to just drop the class. I had a professor at HCC that would happily do that to help people out.

I had Gregory Bohm and he was by far my greatest professor ever. Did not lecture from a power point and made sure we all knew how the systems worked and broke everything down for us. Made the information very entertaining. One of those teachers you only see in inspirational movies. He was wayyyy to smart to be teaching at a community college.

That's funny because it was my A&P II professor at HCC who recommended PHSC to the class as an excellent choice to get their RN and BSN lol

With scores like yours why don't you apply to HCC or SPC? If I had my choice I'd MUCH rather be at HCC but their program is insane competitive and my 3.0 GPA won't give me a chance even for their transition program.

I slipped a $100 bill in with my app. That might have gotten me some extra points haha. In all seriously, like I been saying, I'm sure the GPA + TEST + Residency isn't concrete. I wouldn't be surprised if they just threw darts on a huge dartboard of names of applicants.

I'm pretty sure you need to have your CNA license from the Florida Board of Nursing to practice as a CNA. Fun fact. I had my CNA license and LPN license when I applied for a CNA position since there were no nursing positions available at the nursing home. They told me it's illegal for me to work as a CNA while holding an LPN license.

When is orientation and is it for everyone (RN, LPN and bridge) at the same time and date?

Hmm, wish I was going to West Campus because it's beautiful out there. At least porter campus you get a parking garage though.

This makes zero sense. I got picked as an alternate instead of a flat out rejection and you kill my score ranking. Maybe there is a flaw in the ranking system and nobody but the committee will say how they pick. Maybe they just draw out of a hat, who knows. As far as your residency, my WISE address is Hillsborough County but my license is a Pasco Address and I still got the bonus.

This is probably a dumb question but is PHSC nationally or regionally accredited. Can they be both and what's the difference?

Got in for transition and for some odd reason got in as an alternate for RN. If for some reason I do get offered it I'll be denying it so anyone who didn't get in can take it.

Congrats, what was your score? Wait, I remember you from the 2014 thread. We both didn't get in transition. Did you apply with a 3.0 GPA + 73 TEAS + Residency?

My letter went to a different address so I won't know but I'll be glad if I get in. Transition is what I wanted in the first place.

Yea, it's a load of garbage if you ask me. It's not like HCC's program gives bonuses based on how close you live to the school. So did I.

The application says Porter Campus only unless I heard wrong and they are admitting for West as well. If that's the case then; including the 12 transition seats, that would be 72 total open slots.

I got my letter confirming my applications but they sent it to my old out of county mailing address. I changed residency to Pasco and it reflects that on my drivers license but but my LPN license and address I registered for school is my Hillsborough county parent's address. Will I still get the residency bonus since it specifically says they go off the scanned drivers license?

Employee Health. It's supposed to be a pretty chillax job where you only deal with employee screenings and paperwork. Most of the actual nursing is blood draws.
