  1. sorry, good luck though!
  2. Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters, it is in Norfolk
  3. I just got hired as a new grad at CHKD... They hire new grads year round also, if you are interested in Pedi.
  4. Just an update, I moved up here in June and just got a job offer at CHKD yesterday!!! Thanks for all the advice
  5. The default access is your SSN for the usename and the password is mm/dd of your birthday!
  6. Thanks for all the advice everyone!! It was all very helpful :)
  7. Ok thanks for the advice! I know there are no such thing as stupid questions... but this may be one! On the CHKD website in order to apply don't you have to be applying to a specific position or is there a way to just submit an application? I know that from what I have seen... all the nursing positions require experience, and I am afraid that if I submit an app to one of those it will just be thrown away! Just wondering if I have missed another spot to apply?!
  8. Ok great! I would love to be at a Pediatric hospital. I did my senior preceptorship at Memorial Hermann Children's in the Texas Medical Center. I love pediatrics! Do you know if there is a a certain way of applying to the GN program at CHKD or if there are deadlines? I haven't been able to find that out on their website... and unfortunately have not been able to get a hold of the nurse recruiter there
  9. I speak Spanish and English as well! Not sure if that is a plus or not??
  10. Hi everyone, I just graduated from nursing school with my BSN Friday, and am planning on taking my NCLEX in mid-May. I am relocating to Hampton Roads because of my husband's work. I have started applying, but am having a hard time finding a job, as I'm sure alot of new grads are. Does anyone have any advice for applying to hospitals?? I am optimistic, but also like to be prepared. If i don't find anything at a hospital, where would you recommend me applying, that hires new grads of course, to continue gaining experience... ?? Thanks in advance for anyone's advice!!
  11. I know this can be a private question, but I my husband and I maybe be relocated to Norfolk after I graduate and I was wondering what the starting average salary is for graduate nurses in that area. Here in Houston it is between $25-$30/hr. Thanks in advance
  12. I think that nursing school's suggest volunteering or work experience so that you are certain that Nursing is what you want to do. I'm in the BSN program at UTMB, and before nursing school I did not have any hospital experience. This was also the case for many of my classmates. There were some that were CNA's or PCA's during the summer prior to beginning, but it wasn't half the class. Hope this helps...
  13. I was just wondering if pay is higher for bilingual nurses, and about how much?
