Career Change Advice Needed
You shouldn't worry too much about changing your major while in school. I sure wish I had!:selfbonk: I too felt like I had already invested too much into my business degree to change majors before I graduated. I think that my business degree may help me later in my career if I should be interested in administration, maybe. And it definitely taught me how to be a better student, and that will no doubt help me in nursing school. But sometimes I feel like it was just a waste of time. If only I was more focused on what I really wanted - then. Now I'm sort of paying for it because I'm no longer eligible for some financial aid outlets that would have been available to me as an undergrad. Oh well! I am 30 now, married + kids, and back in school working on a nursing degree! I am so excited, but I only wish I could have started earlier. Good for you realizing what you want. The time it took you to realize it - doesn't really matter. Good luck to you!

Grand Canyon BSN in Tucson?
Hi! Does anyone know anything about this program in Tucson? It looks like it is fairly new. I can't find any info about it on the GCU website. Is anyone in the program? Or does anyone have a link (other than this one) that would offer more information like prereqs, current wait list, is it only available to employees of the participating hospital? http://www.tucsoncitizen.com/ss/local/48372.php I can't believe that GCU doesn't have any detailed information on their site. Thank you!

CC in Southern CA
I thought I was the only one who expereinced GCC's "attitude" problems, especially in their front office!:angryfire I was also accepted into their program but I went with another program that has a more supportive staff (thank heavens!). If this is how the admin treats GCC applicants can you imagine how the faculty is? I know that they must be crazy busy over just like the many other nursing institutions all around the country, but did they forget that we are their customers - paying them for our education? Shame on you GCC!! If other schools admin can be civil so can you!!!!

Gateway Banner Fellows March 08
Hey gonna get there or sp awakening, I have a question that maybe you could help me on...:uhoh21: So, I already sent in the forms that we had to sign upon acceptance and I am so excited that I don't care too much about the location, but I was wondering how you know which location you are assigned to? Don't get me wrong, I'll go wherever they assign me but if I could have a choice that would be better. On my application I listed Chandler as my first choice, but things have changed and now I am hoping for Gateway or another location. Did you both get assigned your choice that was on your application? Did either of you have a situation like this? I'm just wondering if I will be given a choice when the time comes. I called and spoke to the coordinator and she said that when the time comes, we could have a talk? I guess she just wants me to wait until the time is closer. If you have any info on this type of situation, I'd appreciate it! AL

Older Student Getting Frustrated
Carveronica -You are so strong. I can only imagine the hills you are climbing. You have the right attitude and YOU WILL MAKE IT!! No doubt! I wish you and your family the very best! Don't let anyone give you grief about your decision to pursue nursing. I get that alot too from others that don't really know me. I just shrug it off and keep on truckin'! Good luck to you! -Avery

Older Student Getting Frustrated
Hi alliestar, I am new here so I hope I'm doing this right. I am walking in your shoes, just a few steps ahead. I have two kids, and a husband and I am frustrated! I went back to school about a year ago to pursue nursing doing exactly what you may do by leaving my family with only one income - and let me tell you that financially it is really HARD. Our spirits are wearing very thin especially now with the holidays coming. My husband supports me 100% but it is becoming more and more difficult for him... and for me. I REALLY, REALLY want to be a nurse, so bad that I can taste it! But lately things have been so tough that in the back of my mind I am wondering if I should just give up. I know that I won't though because I still have that "spark" in me. When I started college many moons ago - I didn't know what I wanted. I feel like the only way I can redeem my life is by following my dream. I feel extremely guilty about putting my family through this, but it's something that I have to do, and they understand that completely. We all know that this is for the best and once it's over it will be well worth it. So just bottle up all of your passion, strength, ambition (and some extra $$ won't hurt), and go for it. If nursing is what you want, just do it. We aren't getting any younger! This website is so cool! It's comforting to know that there are others like me out there. I wish you the very best in whatever you decide. Avery Luckiegrl

Any one going to Oklahoma University in San Diego and get clinical at SHARP
I've applied. Watch out for that online application. There are two sections you have to complete, one for nursing and one for the college, don't press submit after the first one. That's what I did and I had to print one out and mail it in to them anyway. Good luck!
