Brown Mackie College
Calling All Brown Mackie Grads!!!! I would love to hear from Brown Mackie graduates that have succeeded as far as landing a good job, being able to transfer their credits for higher education (RN), what schools in Indiana accept BM LPN's credits, and assure those that plan to attend there that they are accredited. I know that the human resource of Saint Anthony doesn't allow them to complete their clinicals there. I thought the Occupational Therapy Asst program was the only one that wasn't accredited. If anyone is interested in their Surgical Tech program, that one is accredited. You can find that on the CAAHEP website. Please inform us. Thank you all, patred5

Any Indiana Dabney University grads out there?
I'm looking into applying at Indiana Dabney Univ b/c they offer evening classes/clinicals. I'm tired of taking TEAS test and waiting and waiting to find out that I haven't been accepted into these community college nursing programs. I have a good GPA and I did really good on my teas test at Ivy Tech. I can't afford to quit my job so I need evening classes. They have a 15-month RN program. Very expensive, but hey! I'm not getting any younger. 37 years old and waiting...... Please help!!! Advice needed. Patred5

Anybody attend Everest Institute (formerly Olympia) for PN?
I was looking into Indiana Dabney University. Didn't like the fact that they don't offer student loans or they don't have their clinicals in Indiana. I heard the first class will graduate this month. I would like to hear from any of the nursing students that attended. Anyone out there that graduated this month?

Being a mommy of a child with special needs and a student
You and Little D are in my prayers. I also have a little D which is not so little. He's 16 years old now getting ready to start driving. But we still call him little D because he's a junior to his dad. You just enjoy every moment you can with your little precious D. But also, don't lose sight of how far you have come in your nursing. I would kill to be where you are. I'm still trying to get into someone's program after not being accepted in June. I'm trying again at another college. I have a one year old but I have so much of my husband's support that I don't feel guilty leaving him for class. He'll get all of my attention in due time but right now, I'm on a mission and at the same time, I love my kids with all of my heart. Like someone said, when mommy is happy, the whole house is happy. Nursing is what will make me happy. Well, it was mortuary science but maybe down the line. You pray and keep moving....Your Little D will be just fine. God will protect him.

Anybody attend Everest Institute (formerly Olympia) for PN?
I am patred5's daughter Steph. I would like to get a surgical tech certificate, degree preferred. So can someone please help out there or spread the word to someone that is seeking the same goal. I'm a high school graduate and I need help!!! I heard horrible things about Brown Mackie and Everest. I heard that Everest in Merriville tells you that its a degree but you end up receiving a certificate in surgical tech. I'm very interested in this field. I know I have nerves talking about surgical tech programs on the nursing site, but can someone help lead me in the right direction????? Please! Steph in Indiana please use the pm facility with any information Thank you ALL!! Good Luck with nursing!

Anybody attend Everest Institute (formerly Olympia) for PN?
This school comes equipped with the SimMan (a computerized patient simulator). It gives students a realistic learning experience. Their very first graduate class suppose to be this November 2007. I attended the open house in August and everything sound so good to be true, especially the evening clinicals which that is what I was looking for so I won't have to quit my job or work evenings/midnights. Mornings from 9-1p and evenings 6-10 pm. More schools should offer evening classes. This is 2007!!! Okay, back to this school. They don't accept prerequisites, they are not required. Associates is a 15-month program and they offer the NET test. They don't offer financial aid. Here's the thing that knocked me off balance. The program is....30,700!!!! You can apply for a scholarship worth up to 3,000. They suggest you take a loan out or take out a second mortgage on your home. What do you think???

Heeeyy Over 50!!! All I have to say is.....YOU Go Girl!!! You keep that drive and never give up your dream. Stay determined and if no one else encourages you, keep encouraging yourself and talk to us on allnurses.com, we're definitely here for you! Only the strong survive! I'm 37 with 4 kids, husband, a home, full-time job, bills up the whazu and the list goes on and on. But that number one person that I have to lean on when I feel discouraged or the load is getting too heavy is GOD. He'll never steer you wrong. You are only as old as you feel. Age is only a number!

I can't be the only one who thought the TEAS was easy...
I just paid to take my TEAS test which will be in a couple of weeks or so. If anyone has more details about this test or suggest specific books to study, please let me know. Ive been out of high school for 20 years now. I'm nervous just thinking about it. Well, I freeze up on any test I take :-) Thank you and congrats to all of you that did so well. I have to take 1 pre-req (ANP 102) then hopefully, I'll get into the program in 2008!!! Keep your head up to all nursing students out there!!
