  1. Hi all, Have been in Hospice since 2003 and as a Case Manager we have to do On Call at times. If we only take calls and never go out we get a rate of $2.75 an hour, that has been the rate since 2003. Just wondering if your agency has adjusted that rate over time or has it remained a constant? Thanks, jyhn
  2. Thanks for the replies. Not a big fan of Homecare Homebase especially on a Droid. I feel like it is very narrow viewing before we were on McKesson and a laptop. Our company has not decided on standing orders so in the meantime we have to call md for all orders I like Tweedles answer re SO and hope my company will understand and realize how important to timely care they are.
  3. Anyone using HomecareHomebase on a Droid? We are switching from McKesson where we used a set of standing orders and management tells us we won't have them in HomecareHomebase and will have to get orders for all symptoms as they arise. How does your agency handle? I know they don't have a clue how impossible it would be, hoping someone has a better way.
  4. Hi all, I am a Hospice visiting nurse and our company uses McKesson Horizon Hospice SN Hospice Routine Assessment tool to document at every visit. The area dealing with pain is very frustrating and I wondered if others have found it to be also. Does anyone have an electronic tool they feel is more Hospice friendly and if so what is it? We are planning to change to Homebase Homecare or Homecare Homebase (not sure which) but will probably not happen for a year or 2. Thanks in advance for any help! JYHN
  5. Would like responses regarding Hospice nurses visiting patients at home. What is your average Case Load? How many visits do you do in a day? If you do an Admission, how many visits do you do that day? Do your Agencies understand that mileage is a factor in how many patients you see? We have dedicated On Call nurses who are salaried positions, making a substantial and well deserved salary. When they are off or sick Case Managers who possibly worked all that day and will have to work the next are expected to do the same job as their dedicated staff for $2.75 an hour. If called out to a home they are paid time and a half for the time spent. How do your Agencies handle On Call? Thanks in advanced for any and all responses, Judy
  6. I am 55 years old, went back to Home Hospice Nursing after 2 years as a Nurse Educator. I missed it so much and the rewards far outway any age related issues. I feel it is a calling like none other for me and will do it until I retire, which my husband says will be at least 67 years old :)
  7. Hi all, Our agency is getting ready to bring our Hospice nurses :saint:up on electronic documentation. We already use the McKesson product for Home Care and I was wondering if any of you use that system, in particular how you handle problems and goals and weekly case conferences? But would also like to hear the good and the bad with Hospice electronic documenting. We are using Motion Tablets out in the field with our Home Health Nurses and really think the timeliness and thoroughness of documentation has improved and we are hoping for the same outcomes with our Hospice Nurses. Thanks in advance for any comments, insights and suggestions. Judy :nuke:
