  2. I started working in Oct 2007 on a maternity unit. However due to family reasons I had to go per diem in July 2008 so now I work 2 shifts per week. I am updating my resume and need some ideas on incorporating both positions. Can I just leave my title as Postaprtum Nurse and the dates from Oct 2007- Present and elaborate on the interview? Or should I state staff nurse and perdiem staff nurse sepaerately with the dates?
  3. I have been on a mother baby unit and well baby nursery for 3 months, For the most part I like the staff, the patients we care for and am very eager to learn. However since I started all the nurses complain all the time about staffing issues. I decided to still give it a try, I have been off orientation for 2 weeks, I have been charge nurse twice, and this pass week I was on the floor with an agency nurse, we both started off with 7 couplets, and by the morning we had 6 admissions, she had a total of 20 pts, and I had 19 bc one was an antepartum. I feel really discouraged and don't want to continue this way, this is a constant problem and the nurses on my floor deal with it and just see it as the "norm" One nurse told me well thats not too bad the other night we had 12 couplets each..
  4. I would not put it on my resume, I have friends who advised me not to, just keep yourself as a new grad.
  5. WHen I first read the posting by "One" I thought I had written it. I started L&D 7 weeks ago and after the 3rd week I was really miserable. I waited b/c I was scared but then I spoke to my manager this week, she was very supportive and appreciated my honesty. She said that L&D was probably not a good fit for me, not to mention the unit is like a madhouse. You have to do what you feel and think is right. I feel such a relief and weight off my shoulders b/c I knew I did not want to be there. I might transfer to another floor or just look elsewhere, either way don't stay where you are so unhappy, I know it takes a year to feel comfortable so do something you have alot of interest in.
