  1. Sorry, but the other patient has all the right to a restful sleep!! I'm sure they are paying for that half of the room, some way or the other. You should tell the family to have one person, quietly go in, check on the loved one and whisper that they love him/her and will see him/her in the morning at a more decent time. We are the only advocates some patient's have in the middle of the night. Thanks for caring about that other patient!
  2. YES,YES, YES! I have been a preceptor off and on for many years. One of the greatest compliments is a small professional gift with a Thank you note on how much you have learned and feel more secure and confident with your preceptor's guidance and care. It takes alot to be a preceptor and when the new nurse shows his/her gradification, it just makes it worth while to go to the next (and they may not be as kind as you are to think of a "Thank You")! THANK YOU!!!!
  3. Don't give up on LNC. Try another school. Kaplan is great, with great payment plan too! Also, think about screening calls for Dr.s at night. I'm looking in Shreveport. La. area....anyone know of anything? I have 33 years with a variety of acute care and long term care background. Good luck!
