  1. Hello princenia. Thanks. Is it possible to first apply to the NURSING BOARD OF VICTORIA (NBV) before looking for a work sponsor? When does DIMIA come into the picture if applying for temporary business stay visa? or does DIMIA get involved only for those who apply for the general skilled migrant visa? As stated in the full-migration skills assessment application form B...for those applying to migrate to Australia under the general skilled migration category. I hear it takes some time for this process to complete. Thanks! As for my friend, he can't seem to find a sponsor willing to take him with practically no experience. Hey, if anyone knows a hospital sponsor in melbourne willing...
  2. First off, i'd like to thank AusNurse2B for giving me clear and specific answers to my previous question. I really appreciate your kindness!! I am in a predicament here. There are really 2 visa options for me in order to get over to Melbourne: 1) Apply for TEMPORARY BUSINESS LONG STAY (employer-sponsored) VISA 2) Then when in Melbourne, change to/apply for EMPLOYER SPONSORED PERMANENT VISA OR 1) Apply for the SKILLED-INDEPEDENT (MIGRANT) VISA (GENERAL SKILLED MIGRANT) *In your opinion and experiences, considering total costs and stress involved, which is the best route to take? I mean i would rather go through more stress working out the papers here in the philippines than having to adjust to work over there and handling extra paperwork! I don't have people to help me (relatives, family, friends) over there:uhoh21: Another question (for a friend of mine): He doesn't have any working experience but he has volunteered as a RN for 3 months. From what i have checked in all the requirements of the Nursing Boards and the DIMIA, there is always the request for professional/work references. How is this possible for the NEW INTERNATIONAL RN GRADUATES with no work experience as a hired RN employee in their own country and just an RN volunteer? Could you help me help him? THANKS, TOTALLY!
  3. Hey there. I have been considering migrating to Aussie land after all that is happening now. I have questions about the applications for AUSTRALIAN NURSING AND MIDWIFERY COUNCIL, NURSES BOARD OF VICTORIA, AND DIMIA. Kind souls out there, pls. help. I did check out the other threads in this forum and can't get SPECIFIC answers so pls. enlighten me! 1) For the professional reference letter (for most recent or current employer), would it be okay to put "ongoing" as my employment is still ongoing while i apply? I mean, since they ask MONTH AND YEAR FINISHED, what should i put there? Does this mean when my employer writes the letter, he states that i am still working for them? 2) If a document consists of more than one page (i.e. transcript of records- 3 pages), do ALL pages (1,2, & 3) of the document need to be certified (of course by those allowed to certify by ANMC)? 3) Can you get different people to certify your documents (like some documents certified by legal practitioner then some other documents certified by notary public..then the DECLARATION signed by another different legal practitioner)? 4) Can ANY legal practitioner do the certifying? THANKS!!!
  4. No hard feelings. I understand the limitations with this retrogression in place and i do intend to do things legally though i am just asking about the application process and how those who have gone through AOS have gone about getting their jobs as foreign RNs. A pretty harmless bunch of questions but definetely ones people like us will have to encouterer once over there. It may be a distant future to us but it will happen. But hey if anyone else would like to share what they have gone thru specifically regarding application to job acquisition, please continue posting;). Don't intend to step on anyone's toes. Cheers
  5. Thanks. For pinoy guy, do you know of pinoy RNs who have done so? I noticed that some hospital websites are not exactly "equipped" to recruit RN immigrants so if these hospitals do have new grad training progs., wouldn't they still have to consider the paperwork involved and legal responsibilities tied to getting us working there? Anyone else would like to share their AOS experiences? Y'know about how you guys have dealt with hospital requirements, application process and so forth.
  6. Hello everyone! A newbie here so i hope i'm doin this right. I just would like to ask a question about foreign RNs- when they go to the US to apply (direct hire) for a nursing job. Retrogression aside (yes i am aware that AOS is not possible just yet), when a foreign RN (all requirements completed- y'know like NCLEX passing, ielts, VSC in possession, tourist visa, etc.) chooses to apply online, i noticed that some hospitals request for SSN number (in California, us foreign RNs don't have it yet) so this hinders us from going further. Would this mean our only option would be to visit the hospital personally to submit resume, cover letter, apply? Also i am aware that since local experience is not the same as US working experience and our certificates, licenses are not recognized over there, how do we go about selecting a job title to apply for online when we clearly don't meet those requirements- yet? And then we aren't classified as US new grads either so we can't apply for the new grad. training programs some hospitals have. So where do we fall under? Also, don't you think it would be wise to get your letters of recommendation or list of references prepared before leaving for the US in case your employer asks for them? Question is if we are targeting several hospitals (applying to numerous since we don't know our chances of getting hired and when- ya, foreign RNs have a timetable since we don't have SSN- in Calif.- living is harder), imagine how inconvenient it would be to ask your supervisor for how many letters. Then the problem of who to specifically address the letters to while still in our country. How did those who went through AOS in the past get thru this? Would a list hatreferences be adequate for foreign RNs? Thanks! and i enjoy reading all your posts- very helpful. In short once you guys have reached the "other shores" how did you go about obtaining your job? and how long did you guys and gals have to wait for the hospitals to respond to your application?
