VISA and SEC Assessment (For Canada)
To apply for a visit visa to Canada for taking SEC assessment test I would advise you to have strong documentation showing your financial stability. As far as I know this test can take 3-5 days and the person is expected to return back home after the test as you can not adjust status from within Canada. The immigration officer must be satisfied that you have enough money for travel and your stay in Canada and that you won't become a liability to Canadian government. Having a relative/friend there is certainly a plus. Good Luck to all.

NZ and AUS then to US?
Hello SilverDragon, I couldn't find the thread from last year that talks about transferring a case to a different consulate while your case is at NVC (or from one consulat to another). I just would like to know what the law says about consulate jurisdiction and if a consulate in a third country will accept my case or not. Your help will be highly appriciated. Thanks

LMO processing
You can send in your work permit application to CIC without an approved LMO. it is called concurrent processing. http://www.cic.gc.ca/EnGLIsh/work/processing.asp but I would advice you to wait till you get your LMO approved as it doesnt take that long to obtain one for RN's

Can I bring my baby to the U.S.?
As your friend is pregnant right now, I was wondering if she would be able to clear her medical examination before her visa interview? Thanks

NVC -CP- GC Tracker
What if the baby is born after the immigrant visa is issued and before the mother has traveled to US. Thanks

CARNA Timescale
Hi Jaggy: My wifes application has been ready for assessment since November. By contacting them I found out that they have been really busy and it might take another month for us to get any decision. All we can do now is just wait patiently and be glad that we filled our applications at the right time. It migth take longer for applicants who are starting their process now. Have you already contacted Calgary Health for a job. I was wondering if I should contact them now or wait till I get my registration. Have a great day.

UK Nurse - Calgary - Maybe!
Hello Cheeca, Thanks for your quick and informative reply. I dont understand why they would initially pay you the salary of an undergrad when you have 12 years of expereince (thats ridiculous). didnt they give you a job offer and a contract stating the salary before you started working? I m glad finally things have worked out for you. Have you yet thought about applying for immigrant status? Would Calgary Health help you apply through PNP now or you have to wait till you spend some more time working there. Thanks again for all your help. Have a good one

UK Nurse - Calgary - Maybe!
Hello cheeca: I would like to ask you some questions as I am planning on move to Calgary as well. You said you initially had problems regarding your salary. I was told that the Grad nurses at Calgary get $26/hr plus $1/Yr experience. Is it true? How long it took you to obtain LMO? Did Calgary Health provide you interim accommodation or you had to look for it yourself after you arrived? How much time you have to take your three attempts at CRNE? Your help will be highly appreciated. Have a great day.

help please...LTC? CARNA?
Yeah it does make sense. CARNA has to give temporary registered nurses some time to take CRNE, atleast 18 months for theree attempts. If not, then I believe they should extend the time duration of temporary registration after first or second unsuccessful attempt. Thanks for your thoughts :)

help please...LTC? CARNA?
To Janfrn How have you been? hope everything is fine with you. I have got some questions for you: After obtaining eligibility letter for Temporaray Registration from CARNA how long do I have to take CRNE? All I know is that I have three attempts to clear CRNE but in how much time? With my Temporary Registration how long can I practice in Alberta because the hospitals in Alberta are hiring me with a one year contract? Hospitals are saying that I can apply for permanant residency once i get there on work permit. Can it be done before i pass CRNE or after? Always appriciate your help, have a blessed day :)

planning to move to canada ... part II
Hi Dehli Nurse. I m from South Asia as well and I have applied at CARNA for my temporary registration 5 months ago, the process still hasnt completed and I can see myself waiting for another 2-3 months easily. As Janfrn said you should go ahead and start your registration process as soon as possible cause it takes quiet a long time and you can always provide evidence and change your name later. To Janfrn, I have applied for CARNA registration about 5 months ago, should I now start looking for a job? how easy is it to find a job in Alberta? Do they give nurses a tough time in phone interviews or its pretty easy. I also have one more question. Do you think its wise to apply for a Visit visa after aquiring elegibility letter from CARNA. The intend of the visit would be to take my CRNE exam and if I m allowed in Canada I can search for the best employer for me in Alberta and a face to face interview can be conducted. I would like to get your thoughts on it. Appriciate your help and time. Have a Blessed day.
