I am struggling with this which should be simple. Can someone please explain this to me? When I google all I find are calculators and I need to know how to do it by hand. Thanks, Joel

When someone gets a deposit PLEASE let us know! I am really not sure what the amount will be... From $3k to $7k LOL. Who am I to complain though. 2years payback working in a hospital which is what I would be doing anyway.

So to get this straight.... On Nov 7th we will be receiving the stipend which is backdated for September and October and the ORC on top of that? Also if I have the tuition already paid through pell grants then do I need to send anything to the school? What I needed was the stipend payment. Thank you, 2010NRS

Thanks for the well wishing. Stick with your nursing no matter what. This scholarship is a huge help now but in 10 years we won't be any different. In 1 year we won't be. I have a lot of student loans already. Keep going strong.

Am I correct in thinking that if I started school August 20th then I will be receiving a backdated stipend for September and October at the end of this month? No august since I was not in school for the 15 days required that month? Thank you

Sorry for not replying. No there are no instructions. It just states that I will be contacted within the next 2 weeks by my coordinator. I sincerely hope you guys get the scholarship. A lot of needy families are waiting for some hope. If you don't just keep going. Just so you know I said this same thing "before" I got the scholarship. Don't give up!!!! Finish school!!!!

thanks. I received no correspondence other than the email stating I was a finalist or alternate the middle of september.

Just wanted to let you all know that I received a letter today stating that I have been selected for the scholarship. The letter is in an envelope from DHS. Just so you all know that they are still coming. I live in Arkansas. Good luck to all of you!

Does anyone know if minorities are receiving more scholarships from HRSA? I was reading my Fundamentals book for an upcoming test and it mentioned the goal of HRSA was to get more minorities into the nursing profession. This just struck me as odd because I did not read anything about that regarding the HRSA before. I don't remember reading anything about non-discrimination in the paperwork either though. Thanks

I logged into today and my application now only lists basic info and my status has incomplete next to everything where it used to have complete. I received the finalist email a while back. Wonder what this means?

Everyone chill out. We will be notified by regular mail and they were postmarked yesterday. I imagine by Monday or Tuesday all the letters will have reached their destinations. Just relax, if you hype yourself up and don't get it then you could drop into a depression. Just realize that you will get through school one way or another. If you get it, awesome, if not, thats okay.

Yes apparently it will be after the 30th. They are dealing with a LOT of people.

I can't login to the site they give but I can to the correct one. It doesnt matter either way. They will send letters out tomorrow per the call center. Please do not call them and ask again though. They are overwhelmed and this information is from them.

I heard that they are going to mail out the letters tomorrow and we should know within a week. Hope this gives you all some hope.

I just completed my summer pre-nursing requirement so now I am officially in nursing school come the fall. My problem: I have to be full-time for a few scholarship requirements. My only BSN prereq's I still will need are Chem(basic) and Statistics. I have registered for Chem 1 to coincide with my nursing course this fall (Adult Nursing 1). Are there online RN-BSN programs which do not require these two prereq's? Should I take them with Adult Nursing 1 (Chem only, Stat in the Spring)? Should I wait and take them after I graduate and am working? Will I be able to take them at school after I start working or will I be so stressed from working that it will be impossible? My goal is to become a CRNA or another type of ANP for overseas missionary work assisting a surgeon in India. I am not a blind young hopeless student. Shoot it straight! lol. I have read about CRNAs on this forum (this was not recently) who have gone straight into CRNA school without prior service. They of course had a duty obligation after they completed school. Thanks for the help I had not thought about the reserves. Excellent idea although I am not interested in the Army at this point. I assume I could accomplish the same with the Navy. JT

Lets play a game: I say what my goals are and you tell me how I am an idiot, j/k. I am currently applying to 6, yes 6, ADN programs around the state of Arkansas. My GPA will be around 3.4-3.5 and my scores on the NET were very high, I have yet to take the TEAS (is it similiar to the NET?). I remember a song not to long ago about how if you want to hear God laugh then tell Him your plans. Here they are. 1. Finish out the ADN and take the 2 required BSN prerequisites that I have left while doing this. 2. Find work in an ICU, I understand it is hard right out of school but I will try anyway. 2. Get set up with the Navy and their nursing assistance which offers $10,000 (5 and 5) sign on and $1,000 month while earning my BSN. The Navy Nurse Candidate Program. 3. Enroll in one of the many online RN-BSN programs around the state of Arkansas. 4. I need to find out if after using the Navy for the sign on bonus,etc... can I still apply to go straight into the CRNA program which they will fund? If not then I would hopefully be able to land a job in the Navy in an ICU since I already have said experience. I have learned that it is near impossible to start in the ICU in the military if you have not had any experience as a civilian. 5. Become a CRNA, due my duty to my country and then either stay in or come out and start work as a civilian CRNA. I understand that I made it sound incredibly simple and I know that is not the case. Just give me your thoughts and if anyone has first hand experience please forward it on. p.s. Did I mention I have three very young kids right now and will have quite a lot of loans after my ADN program? I hate to come across like a know it all especially when I asked the questions. I learned on this site about the option of going straight into the CRNA program with the Navy. Some here have done this. Can someone who has personal experience with this and the CRNA entry please respond. Are the online RN-BSN accredited programs eligible for this? The reason I am asking on here is because I have called the local Navy recruiter and it turns out he is an enlisted recruiter who also does officer recruiting. He seems a little wishy washy on what he knows and it is not very comforting to say the least. Where could I get some solid information? Also anyone with personal experience going straight into ICU? The Navy offers a program where they pay a $10,000 bonus and $1,000 a month to finish your BSN and then you go in and finish out your contract. While you are in school you have not requirements other than the yearly PT test. Thank for the information though. Any help is greatly appreciated. JT
