  1. Thank you for your help! I called st.philips and talked to someone she did say that pretty much everyone that gets a gets a qualifing score on the test and passes the background check gets in.... Now to find a job and a place to live down there so I can move lol...thats seems to be harder than I thought!
  2. Im from CA, san diego area, and work as a MA/phlebotomy.. I have worked in the medical field for years and know a lot of nurses in different areas of the health care and good luck to you finding a job, there are nurses that have years 10+ of experience that cant find a different job if searching for better hours, or benefits, I intern for a couple hospitals here and hear nothing but complaints from the nurses about the hours and lack of benefits they recieve not to mention work load and shortage of help because the hospital keeps cutting down on the nurses. I myself am moving from CA to TX to get my nursing because the schools here are so impacted and to be honest because I just cant afford to live here..I grew up here and love love love san diego area but its just too much money, Most of the nurses that I know live up in the "hot" areas because its more affortable to do so...but then for me its Cali is all about the beach..i might get flack for this but I grew up on the beach so im partial..I have also heard that to get a job u have to be in a program, The internship im in has a LOT of new grad nurses as well as "old" nurses that are doing the internship in hopes of getting a job... No luck from what ive heard so far... Def get a job secured before you move in my opinion..good luck!
  3. was it hard to get into? is there a waiting list? a friend of mine said that the wait is long for st.philips, so far the reviews ive read have been great. Ive also been looking at baptist school of professionals have you heard anything about it?
  4. wow st.philips has a really good pass rate for the NCLEX!
  5. Thank you I will def check them out and it is a lot cheaper than career point! How do you like your class so far? do they require pre reqs? Do you know any graduates from this school and their results?
  6. No wonder I couldn't find any ROP in TX... I tried looking all kinds of ways, thats good to know! thank you... and now hopefully they wont do away with them here in CA..the fight goes on..
  7. Hello everyone, I am a single mom of 2 kids (10&12) and I decided to move to san antonio, Ive never been to TX before, so if you have any input on living and schools that be great, I've heard the northwest/medical center area is ideal and I am looking for LVN or RN programs that are legit, as well as what and where to stay away from. I have been looking at Career Point for school but I am nervous since the reviews that I read are very mixed. I am also on a limited budget as I am single so the areas might be limited to me as far as living expenses go. i am a certified medical assistant in CA and also a certified phlebotomist so if you know of jobs or places that tend to hire and pay decent that be great as well.. Thank you for all and any feedback and suggestions I really appreciate it all! (I am moving July 2013)
  8. I think if I do stay in CA I dont know that I would be able to attend school and work full time to support my kids and myself..I think I will have to make the move and hope for the best... I can't be worse of then now right...? I hope... I think that the Career Point school in san antonio is a for profit and that makes me very nervous because I have heard very mixed reviews for the school.. Maybe I should just move, at this point I think I can afford just a 1 bedroom for the 3 of us and see what schools I can get into once I get down there...That is a great idea to look for a ROP LVN program down there because I recieved my Medical Assistant and my Phlebotomy certificate thru ROP, I will look into that right now thank you for the idea!
  9. I'm a single mom of 2 kids (10&12) I live in california but im struggling just to make ends meet and am thinking about moving to san antonio TX just because its cheaper and ive heard that they have a large medical center etc... I've never been to TX before... Ive found a school called career point but im not finding too much info wether its a good school or not...I guess Im having a hard time deciding if i should move to TX and take a chance that I will find a nice affordable place to live and am able to go to school or if I should stay in CA and work as a phlebotomist here and hope that the hospital i work at will help me go to school some day... and further my education... I have no one to ask for help either state im basically alone.. Any wise words or suggestions i will appreciate. .Thank you in advance.
  10. You are a beautiful woman and mother! That takes strength to be the best every day this is just another step forward you WILL succeed and you WILL continue to make your babies proud and be a great example for them. Dont let you ex or anyone hold you back because your strong for getting this far just to apply for school etc. Good Luck you will do great!
  11. Has anyone graduated from this school or is in the program right now ? can you tell me how it is? Im thinking about going to career point just because its faster without pre reqs but im scared because I haven't seen too many comments on this school...
  12. I was also looking into starting there in aug of 2013...but im running into some bad reviews...and wondering if after your done with school there are you able to get employed... finding a job is not hard but do employers hire ppl graduating from career point it my question..
