  1. I'm in a predicament. I'm a new RN with a young family and have just secured my first job. I want very much to take a 7a-7p shift however I'm having trouble locating appropriate facilities that stay open that late. What are you guys doing? I've found only one place which is not really a choice I'd like to have to use. But, unless I take a day shift of 8 hours...and then do five days a week, that's where they'd have to go. Plus it would put them in daycare 5 days a week versus just three. This is a big issue for me. Oh...dh can't really be relied on for helping me out. He's a med student and rotates in the hospital now and has to split time with studying and sleeping for the most part. He'll help when he can...but again, I'm trying to figure out a PLAN here. Any suggestions?

I don't get the election of this surgery either. I was not able to deliver lady partslly myself either time (I have two children). Of course, the first time we attempted to do it naturally but my body would not do it. Without going into details, I've since learned my body will not labor and its not safe for me to deliver lady partslly EVER. If I have further pregnancies, I will always have to deliver via csection and that makes me so sad. I don't think that most women understand the emotion this brings until you learn your body can't do something. I would never encourage a woman to go straight to csection. The recovery is rotten. Why anyone would want to be stuck in bed wearing SCD's for 24 hrs, not be able to expel gas and be in such pain you can barely move! It's not by any means glamorous or easier. It is beyond me... All I can do is educate and maybe share my personal experience if I'm asked...
  3. Has anyone taken the online Kaplan review course? If so, what were your opinions of it? I just received my ATT and wanted a online review course because my education has been stretched out over so many years. Given I am a SAHM to two young children under three...this would be the only chance I have at a formal review course. Plus, I like the fact that it is CAT testing too and builds an assessment of your weak areas. Anybody?
  4. Hi folks. I'm new to this site. I just recently graduated my ADN program after a rather complicated run of school. By complicated, I mean what seemed like endless obstacles (unplanned pregnancy, mandatory relocation, illness, transfer of programs etc.) challenging me to finish. But, I finally did it. Now I find myself in a dilemma of sorts. Nursing school was hard to begin with and now, I have to figure out how to put it all together so that I can begin reviewing for my NCLEX-RN BY MYSELF. My entire nursing education has been so drawn out...I feel hopelessly lost and unorganized. Due to my current situation, I can't plan on taking the exam until some time mid fall. So, I haven't even sent in my application etc. (the ATT only lasts a specific period of time) and my affadavit of graduation is on hold with the nursing examiners until they receive its match. I do however want to get this done as soon as is possible! So, as forementioned, my nursing education has been drawn out incredibly. All within less than five years of course but much more extended than I would ever have planned it. As a result, I mentioned feeling lost and unorganized. I know that I need to create some type of "road map" so that I can identify all areas I need to review and what my weaknesses are...but I don't know where to begin. Because I was inbetween two programs (VERY long and complicated story), I don't really have any resources (such as administrators) that I can talk with to help. Is there any hope that I can accomplish this all on my own? I want this SO bad and have worked SO hard for this. How do I tackle this tremendous load? Please help!!!
