  1. PACU nurse give Ketamine?

    Are PACU nurses allowed to give lower dose Ketamine for pain? We recently had an Anesthesiologist get angry because a RN in PACU would not give ketamine for pain. I can not find any state board regulations or guidelines. Anyone kmow?

    I can't imagine doing anything else. I have been a nurse >30 yrs. Been in many different areas. I learn something new every day! I have my bad days. It is not an easy job.Sometimes it's the best! Overall, I am happy with my career choice. You will learn. With that you will gain confidence. You will be fine! Good luck whatever you choose.

    No. The only reason being I have MS. My immunity is already compromised from frequent very high dose Solu=Medrol. So I don't think I could risk it.
