I am a nurse into just a little over my first year. I work with more capable techs and nurses who have been into this area of nursing for 3,6,20 years etc... I am told that I don't pull my load and it is unfair to the others. I am trying my best to keep up and have let them know I have a foot/heel issue. I really love what I do but feel I can't please anyone and the gossip is sickening. I have approached those to let them know that i am doing the best I can and support is needed not GOSSIP. I know I need to work on my organizational skills but i know that will come in time. Any suggestions or ideas on how to make it better? Thanks
  2. I just recently had an incident with an elderly gentleman that needs attitude adjustment. I finally told him in a diplomatic way that if he did not treat me with some respect I would no longer accept his inappropriate behavior. If there is any way to get the nurse floor manager or social worker to speak with patient that is always helpful to get a third party involved. Just keep your head up and know that you are a great nurse and you are also HUMAN. Hang in there.
  3. I have been working at a facility where I see the same patients very often a week. I have one particular elderly gentleman who constantly complains about EVERYTHING. For almost a year I have listened to him and along with complaining he verbally is nasty and not appropriate. I finally told him that I was not going to listen to his griping and complaining any longer and he was no longer allowed to treat me with disrespect or i would get another nurse to take care of him. Has anyone ran into this and how did you handle it?
