TB Skin test positive -- help!
Dear oneLoneNurse, Your reply made me laugh... I am thinking the same after all the reserch. I grew up in South Korea in 60s, and 70s and at the time we were vaccinated so many kinds of diseases and I am thinking TB is one of them. A couple of my relatives were died from TB in 50s so we were very cacious about the TB. Yes, I do not really want the meds. So if my chest x-ray came out to be a positive then do I have to take a meds or do I have a choice not to take them??? Thank you!

TB Skin test positive -- help!
Dear epipusher: What CDC stands for? Thank you for your infomation. One of symtoms I have is bad dry coughs through out my life and I wrote briefly about them below. The strong ones I remember. Dec., 1994 Fall semester: after smoked about two weeks I developed dry coughs. It went about a month and half. I was living domitary the first time in my life and I was quite stressed out about my studies/classes. Through out 2003: I was on and off coughing (dry) very badly, stressed out for future, job, and relationship with my boyfriend March, 2004: very stressed out at work and started coughing... Oct/Nov., 2006: again stressed out at work and started coughing badly... but at the time when I went to see a doctor, I did not have a cough so I forgot to ask about my cough. However, I took some kind of x-ray becuase my chest was hurt. Doctor said that my chest pain is becuase of my work stress... So I though that my coughs are due to my stress at work. Ever since I quit my job I do not have a skin rash, and coughs which I were struggling for. Sorry for a long story... However I am still worried... Again, thank you epipusher!!!

TB Skin test positive -- help!
Dear BerryHappy: I am from South Korea in 1989. So I have been living in US for quite a long time. I might had a vaccine for TB but I am not sure and my mom would not remember it either. My RedCross class cost me total of $1450. I already paid for $100 registration fee which is non-refundable. On Thrusday, July 26th I have to pay the rest of tution for the class which is 1300. If I pay the whole amount then they will discount $50. I was going to get a CNA certificate so while I was pursing my nursing degree I could make momey for a living, hopefully. I am 43 years old and I am quite worry about the course work so I am just wondering forget the $100 and do not worry about the money for the first semester as pre-nuirsing student.... I do have saved a money for until end of Fall 07 which is end of this year. What do you think? Good idea? peace.

Need advice on prerequisites class
Hello all, I took College Chemistry and Biology 15 years ago (have a BA). Now I am going to take a Human Anatomy and Microbiology coming this Fall Semester in LA City College. I am afraid that if I would get lost becuase I would not remember in Chemistry while I am taking prerequisties Anatomy, Physiology, and Microbiology. I am also worry if I need Chemistry while in nursing class too or for the NCLEX exam. Please help me out! Also I am thinking to take Anatomy and Microbiology coming this Fall 07. That's it for the Fall so I will only have two classes (8 units) for the Fall 07 semester. And then Spring 08, I will take Physiology. Physiology requirs prerequisit for the Anatomy class. Basically all I need is these three classes in order to apply for the Nursing school. Thank you in advance on any and all your advice. peace07

Need advice on CNA job for middle aged woman while in the nursing school, good idea?
I am 43 years old and decided to go to a nusing school for a BSN degree. This will be my second career. I have a BA (I was pre-med once so I had all prerequisties sciences courses and math for the med-school) and a MS. However life took me a wrong turn and I was making so little money to survive and even further abused by my manager. She screams, yells at me, etc. I quick my job and got really sick for a while. After 2 months of rest while enjoying and worring about my future, my father got really sick and I had to take him in and out of ER and hospitals. Now I am certain that I want to become a nurse. First and far most there is a lot of job opportunities and get paid well. I was so schocked that how much nurses make. I will be very happy if I could make that kind of money. And I would love to move around, running around, and working phsically tiring, a good tiring work and can have a deep and good sleep. I was sitting in front of computer all day too long in the past for my office work job. Here is my scary part coming. How am I going to pay for a living and schooling. I am thinking to become a CNA before Fall starts and working as a CNA while I am in the school. I have heard horrible things and saw what they do in the hospital as a CNA but that is the only job I think will help my nursing career. More importantly I can work weekends or evenings. What do you think? I would love to hear how did you or will you pay for a living and schooling? Thank you for all your input in advance! peace07

Need advice on nursing school/prgram for second career middle aged woman!!!
Dear all, I am 43 years old and wanting to get into a nursing program. I was sick of getting paid so little with my ex-job and sick of treated badly by my manager in the past. About a couple of months ago my father got really sick and I had to take care of him. He was in and out of ER and hospital for a month. Now he is in the nursing facility. He needs a oxigen tank with him so he could not come home. It was my awenkeng experience in the hospital and nursing home to take care of my father. I really liked being in the hospital. I am not really sure how I feel to nurse patient but at least I liked being in the hospital. I talked to many CNAs, LVN, and RNs about the nursing school. So here is my questions. I want to start as soon as possible the LVN or RN but it seems that LVN I could start right away and will be done with it in a year but it costs so much. I found out Casa Loma College, Los Angeles ($24K per program). I have already BA and MS but I took college bio, college chem, math, etc., long time ago. And I am very scared to start a new career. If I get my RN around when I am 46 am I still be able to get a job easily? Or should I just start a private LVN program coming this July 30th? Please give your thoughts and advice. I will greatly appreciate!! Thank you so much in advance.

Need Loma Linda University Feedback
Hi all, I am living in LA and looking for a nursing school to attend. I already have a BA and MS but thinking about to attend a community college because it is a cheap and fastest. But I am not sure where to go. I came from CO so I really do not know around CA. I am thinking about going to LACC or LATTC. Please give me some info on these schools. Or should I just go to CalState LA?

What Do I Do????
Hi all, I am also trying to find a nursing school around my house and I am looking into for the ADN route. However I have a BA and MS but I think the ADN is the fastest I think. I was pre-med when I was undergrad so I had all college bio and chem but I took those classes around 1994. Do you think I need to retake them? And my second question is I am thinking to go to LATTC because it is cloest from my house. What do you think of that school. I moved to CA a few years ago and I really have no idea about community collegtes around in LA. Please help me out! Thank you in advance any of your thoughts and advices...
