Passed Nclex Pn!!!!
Just found out today that I passed NCLEX-PN:nurse:...Good luck to everybody out there!! And in case it helps...My whole test was infection control and prioritization, and stopped at 85. Study those guys!!! you will need them. Know when to wear a gown, mask, particulate mask...the whole nine yards. I got like 5-6 meds...some I had never heard of. Mods, are we allowed to say which meds? And the med questions didn't set it up like Saunders "pt with CHF is taking xyz med, what are the side effects," they were straight forward "pt is taking xyz med, what are the side effects," so no help if you've never heard of the drug. I got ZERO math questions:(. A few maternity, but more along the lines of "these four women are in labor, who do you see first." Not a whole lot of peds, whatever they asked was from the communicable diseases chapter in Saunders. If I remember anything else, I'll post them. Hope this helps at least one person. Good luck everybody!!!

Exam Cram?
Thanks for the response Sprkl...I think you helped all three of us out. We all seemed to be in a jam. But good luck to us all!! NCLEX here we come!

Exam Cram?
Hi guys, Has anyone used "Exam Cram" (I think by Pearson) as a supplement to Saunders to study for the NCLEX? PN or RN....If so, did it help? was it worthwhile? Would you recommend someone to practice on those questions? Thanks in advance! - Alisa

NCLEX-PN woes
Thanks so much CT Pixie! I really appreciate the info...I FELT ready...then started talking to a few of my friends, and they were all worried that they failed, so I don't want to take any chances. But you're right, we took the ATI exit test, and I got a 97% chance of passing first time, so maybe if I just keep reading I'll be ready. Thank you for your well wishes and help!! :loveya:

NCLEX-PN woes
hi everybody! so i've been here and reading all these posts, and it seems like everyone is using saunders and kaplan... is saunders alone sufficient though? i've been studying out of saunders ( and a bit of lipincott) for the past 3 weeks, and my test is next week. i've been scoring anywhere from 77% - 83%. am i ready? should i get another text? should i reschedule? are the questions on the nclex similar to saunders? i am lost with not much time to spare!!! any help will be greatly appreciated. and good luck to everybody out there getting ready attack this monster called the nclex.

ati/kaplan
Hi Brant... am scheduled to take the test at the end of the month, and I'm having the worlds biggest MI..lol. I am also following Suzzane's plan, as well as Lippincott, and some notes someone here sent me (let me know if you want them, they're pretty good). But good luck to you, study hard:typing, and I'm sure we'll all do great! :specs:

ati/kaplan
Thank you soo soo soo much for this thread!! I got a 97% on my ATI predictor test, but reviewing Saunders now, I feel so unprepared for the NCLEX. Especially the ever dreaded SELECT ALL THAT APPLY!!

NCLEX review discrepancies?
Hello everybody, So I've been reviewing for the NCLEX using a variety of books, and am confused on some questions... 1. In Saunders Q & A review for PN 3rd edition, there is a question " A client arrives in the ER after a chemical splash into the eye. The client tells the nurse that the eye was irrigated w/ tap water for 5 minutes before coming to the ER. The nurse proceeds with the irrigation with normal saline and tests the pH of eye w/ litmus paper. The nurse should resume the normal saline wash until the pH test reads: 7.0 7.5 7.8 8.0 " The book says it should be irrigated until 7.0.... but I've read in different books that its 7.45 (so 7.5 here)....so I'm officially confused....irrigate until 7 or 7.5? 2. Also, in Lippincott's review for PN (7th edition) there is a question that says: "The nurse inserts a gastric sump tube in the client with a perforated ulcer and asks the LPN to check its placement. Which is the most appropriate technique for determining if the distal end of the tube is in the stomach? a. requesting a portable x-ray of stomach b. listening over the stomach as air is instilled c. adding 100mL of tap water into the tube d. feeling for air at the proximal end of the tube." The book says the answer is B, w/ the rationale being that an x-ray is too expensive and unnecessary radiation to pt. Now I know in the clinical setting, we do B...but I've always been told that for nclex, it's the IDEAL setting, and the BEST way to check is w/ an x-ray. So to x-ray or not x-ray? That is the question
