I actually thought I had put it in the original post. I just stated that I thought I would save it for last. I am not sure how it would be considered not nice. It seems I have managed to upset a couple of people. It was not my intent. For the record, I said nothing back to the doctor but okay I understand and nodded my head. It seemed all I could do at the time. He was yelling at me in front of patient and two very uncomfortable looking interns. Maybe it was not the best way to handle it but the best I could do at the time. I appreciate the input I got including the information from lpnflorida. I will read the information and hopefully it address the applying of SCD on greenfield filter patients. I am over this whole situation. I truly am. I just wanted to vent and ask for input on SCDs specifically on greenfield filter patients nothing more. Again I apologize for making anyone upset. If I did then I managed to do on this computer what I dont do at work. I am the one who gets along with everyone. I really do appreciate all the support posts. Its nice to get that kind of feedback when you have really bad days like that particular day. Thats what I think is so nice about this site. You can get support and information and not judgment. I will be more careful with my posts in the future. The last thing anyones needs on here is to deal with each other the same way I see many so often do at work.

Thanks everybody for your input. I thought I would save this bit of information for last about my situation. THERE WAS NO ORDER FOR SEQUENTIALS on his patient. Our orders are on the computer and indicated DVT ASSESSMENT: Low Risk. Obviously this order was old but there was no new order. I work Neuro Trauma/Surgery and we do take SCDs seriously but in all cases I have had before the SCDs are left off of pts with greenfield filters. Now whether that is right or wrong then not sure now anymore but that is the standard. As far as the doc yelling at me. Here is how I feel about that. He made a fool of himself. There were plenty of other more professional ways to handle the situation than what he did. I said nothing at the time to him and just nodded that I got it. I did not crawl up in the fetal position and cry about it. The last person posted after saying all the ultimate responsibility is on the MD now how do I feel about his yelling at me. Well heres my bottom line " I respect what he does and I fully understand his responsibility and he should respect mine and fully understand my responsibilites". We have to work together. There is always a better and more professional way to handle the situation. If he would have pulled me aside and handled it that way instead of making a scene then his point would have gotten across just as well. Plus, I would have respected him more not less. Hi, I got yelled at in front of my patient and two other physicians because my pt did not have sequentials on one of her legs. Now, I am over the getting yelled at part because as we all know we take a lot of crap in this profession. However, this is my real problem with all this. After he made a fool out of himself he said now you cant place the SCDs on pt without a venous doppler. By the way, he told me to go write myself up over this. Keep in mind, it was my first time I had this patient and I was only two hours in my shift when this all happened. The SCD had been taken off on the previous shift when pt received a bath and not put back on. From the get go that morning, I had critical labs and stat IVP etc etc. You guys know how it is. Her SCD was not foremost on my mind. So, its the weekend and doctor did not put the order for the doppler until I followed up. Order in and since it was the weekend I had to call vascular surgeon to get this ball rolling. They refused to come up on weekend to do this doppler. Resident made attending aware of this and I was told to leave SCD off. So, she went a day and half with no SCD on and I felt if she did not have new DVT before she would now. Heres the kicker, this pt had greenfield filter placed to prevent a DVT that developed prior. I asked another resident about this and was told filter takes care of both sides. So, isnt SCD contraindicated on this pt? In other pt with greenfield filters placed we leave SCDs. off. Thanks for reading all this.

My fingerprint card was sent 3 months ago, my application for license was sent with my money 5 weeks ago. I registered to take the NCLEX 5 weeks ago and still no ATT #. My status is eligibility pending Anyone have this problem? I know of a couple of people that have already taken their NCLEX exam According to State Board they are waiting on my FBI background check. I have called and e-mailed BON twice on this. I am not sure if they are following up on it or not. Or if the lady who answers the phone (real nice) just pulls my name up and repeats what she sees on the screen. I am wondering if the FBI even got my card. If they had a problem with my prints not turning out good or I filled something out wrong then I would hope I would have heard about it by now. I have no arrests. I was married before with a different last name. When I got divorced I changed it back to my maiden name. Not sure if that could hold it up. Very very frustrating! I am due to start my job in just two weeks. I am going to also post on general forum to see what feedback I get.

I cannot remember the exact date. The entire classes was sent at the same time and I believe it was the end of March or beginning of April. I just thought maybe because I used to be married and had a different last name at one time would be holding it up. I don't really see why. If you pull my social up I am sure it has both names. I am sure the FBI can see marriage and divorce records pretty easy. GEEEZZZZ!!! If it takes 6 months then I can kiss this job I landed good by. There is no way they will hold it that long. Not to mention I need the money. One of my classmates told me she had her ATT within 8 days of turning her application in to BON!!

I e-mailed the nursing board last night and received a phone call today. They left a message on my voice mail saying the same thing they said last week. They are waiting on my FBI check. I have absolutely no idea why there would be a hold up on this. I made a point to get everything in to BON right away after I graduated. I don't have any arrests on my record. I can't imagine why there would be a delay.

I graduated May 19th from UALR. I still do not have my ATT and I contacted the state board. They are waiting on my FBI background check. However, I heard from a classmate of mine and she has already taken her NCLEX and passed. She knows of another person too who has already taken theirs. Another classmate of mine who is in the same boat said he contacted the FBI and they advised the background checks were sent to the state board a long time ago. I am not sure what is going on. I have a set start date for a new job in a few weeks. I would really like to take my NCLEX before I start my new job if possible. Right now, I am wondering if I will have my temporary license in time.

I failed a year ago. I had to retest back into my program which means taking a comprehensive final in each area I previously passed. Make less than 78% and you fail. After you finish the exams up to the point which you failed you then take a math test. Miss more than one and you fail. If you make it through all of that then you redo all of your clinical skills. It was a two month process to get back into the program. They don't even guarantee a spot even if you pass all of that. Deal is so many people fail out of the program that there will be a spot available. You only get one shot to re-enter the program to start off at where you left off. Only two out of 17 people who tried one time got in. When I passed it was 3 out of 7. When I did not pass my OB rotation, I had fail by just 4 points. It was devestating. I did not know what I was going to do. By the way, I had to wait a whole year until that rotation came around to start again. It was a very stressful time. Some people don't even try to retest back in because they hear how hard it is and the chances of making it in are low. However, I felt like I owed it to myself to at least try. I gave it everything I had and I got back in. Then I went on this past year to do really well in all my rotations. I graduated in May and passed my HESI first time. If it is meant to be then it will happen.
