I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to find a nursing journal article on say classic c-section vs. vertical c-section with twins.......I don't know how to look it up that specifically the other one is why it is important that moms in labor eat after their water has broken r/t gestational diabetes? Any help on how to look these up or good site....would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Wolf

? about Marijuana
I haven't been friends with him for all that long...just since he was supposed to have quit. I do know that you can lose your license, that is why I am asking about this...I don't want to tell him where to go without having some good information and facts about this.... I am not going to risk my future license by being friends with him...I cannot afford that... I am drug free and alcohol free..and don't want to be involved with one that could hurt me...guilt by association? I am not sure he has been clean that long, but I also don't want to misjudge him.. ? about Marijuana
A friend of mine tested positive for Marijuana when he was given a Urinalysis. How long does this stay in the system?? I have heard different answers. The UA was done 44 days after his last supposed use. Does this seem right to you?? Any input would be appreciated. Wolf

blackmail by hospital
I know that we had issues at the hosp. I work at where a nurse refused to take on 15 patients. At the time, this was the norm for the 11-7a shift. They told the nurse that she would have to work it or they would file patient abandonment charges against her? I don't know if they can do this, but I do know that she thought they could. They are not very nice people there, and they are under the misconception that I will work for them as an RN when I get out of school. lol I won't do it, not after the way I see them treat my nurses there, they are horrible. I used to be the unit clerk there and have switched over to patient care tech, b/c it is so flexible. They tried to stop me from transferring, and when they finally allowed me to transfer, they cut my hours. They knew that I HAD to work decent hours and they have tried to use it to their advantage by cutting me to 12 hours a wk, to make me go back to the unit clerk position. Anyway, I was just wondering though about the abandonment issues?? That particular nurse ended up quitting, but they treated her so badly when she tried to stand up about the patient load. She didn't want to lose her license, and 15 patients is a lot especially on a post/op floor. Any thoughts about them being able to charge a nurse with abandonment? Sorry about the tangent about my work schedule. Makes no sense though to not work with someone who is in nursing school and they won't provide a good environment for the nurses to work in when they can, but won't.

Hospital charts--who can see them?
Working as a unit secretary, we are told that family members are not allowed to look at a patients chart. They can be told details about the patients condition only if they are immediate family and the patient has given permission (noted in the chart). Sometimes, if the family member happens to be a dr. nurse, etc...these "rules" are overlooked, but it is like Jemb said, no one should be looking at that chart that isn't directly involved in patient care. If this is an issue perhaps you could take it to your charge nurse. I have went to mine with this issue and she handled it superbly. Mary
