  1. Hi I have been a nurse for about a year now. I started out with dialysis nursing but I have ALWAYS been interested in case management. I was offered a job that was similar to case management but at the time I could not take the job. I am now working on a med surg floor with hopes of becoming a case manager soon. I just wanted to know if I am on the right path? what other suggestions do you all have?
  2. I am a new grad and I had an interview today with home health and the lady kept stressing to me that home health is not an easy job and that it is very hard. I was very interested, and I still am interested, but to be honest she has kinda made me scared about getting into home health. Is this really true about home health being very hard?
  3. Hi, I am very interested in case management. I was contacted by Kaplan University online about pursuing a case management certificate online. Has anyone done this before? Does it help?
  4. What field are you now working in? How long did it take you to find what you like in nursing? I feel that I need to move on from dialysis because it is not something that I can see myself doing for a long period of time or even making a career out of it. Dermatology actually crossed my mind as well as home health, but I don't know how much experience you need to do home health.
  5. Yeah it is possible to get a job as a new grad. I graduated from nursing school and I am a charge nurse at a dialysis center. I will get six months of training before being on my own.
  6. Hi All, I am a registered nurse that recently graduated in May. I love nursing and I know that nursing is my calling however, I am not really sure what area of nursing I would like to pursue. Starting out I worked on a medical surgical floor for only two weeks because it was not something that I enjoyed doing. I now work at a dialysis center as a Charge Nurse and although I like it better than the hospital, it is still not what I want to do. I wanted to know if you could give me some advice as to some career options that are avaliable? I love the patients but I think I would really love to work behind the scenes. Thanks!
  7. As of now I am doing chronic and I would like to see the acute side of dialysis before I decide to travel. Yes I plan on traveling with the same company. Do you think it will look bad if I do 6 months chronic and then 6 months acute?
  8. Of course im in training because they cant just let me out on the floor on my own yet. I really didnt and still dont want to be a Charge Nurse right now and I really would like to be a floor RN on a dialysis unit, but I was told that as a RN in dialysis you will pretty much be charge. Most of the floor nurses are LPN and the RN does charge. No, I really dont want to put my license that I work so hard for on the line, and like I said before I will be in training for six months and in six months I was thinking about doing acute.
  9. Hi, I recently graduated from nursing school this past May and I have recently starting working as a Charge Nurse at a dialysis center that treats patients with chronic renal failure. I would like to do travel nursing as a dialysis nurse, and I was told that you need at least one year of experience before you can travel. My plan is to do Chronic dialysis nursing for six months to learn that side of dialysis and I planned on doing six months of acute dialysis to work more with patients that are sicker. Do you all think that this is a wise decision to do before traveling or should I just stick with chronic? Will it look bad on my resume to just stay for six months? Please Help!
