  1. hi there, the shifts they have are 5a-3p, 8-6p, 10a-8p, 12p-10p, 3p-1a, 7p-5a. As a new nurse they would schedule you to work 8a/10a/12p. If you have more questions send me a private message and I would be happy to answer your questions.
  2. I don't really have any good tips to give you. I interviewed and obtained a position as a case manager for them, which is a little different than their DM. I did, however, go through the DM training since my position is very new to them. I don't know what questions they would ask about for DM, maybe condition related? Sorry I couldn't be more help. Maybe if you start a new thread you might get some answers. Good luck with your interview!
  3. Hi all: I just got an offer from McKesson and want to know what the benefits are like. If you work for them, could you share what type of coverage you get and out of pocket costs? Thanks
  4. Wow, that's a wide range of wages!!! I currently make $38/hr as a TT nurse. But I also live in Southern California where the cost of living is astronomical.
  5. Thanks for the reply Montie! I just re-read my reply and sounded really negative, plus I need to consider proof reading before posting I'm still not sure where to go from here. I was enrolled in a master's program but my current job did not allow for me to have to time off I needed for school. I suppose I just mostly dislike the company I work for now. But since I haven't had any luck finding a nice place to work for here, I am kind of hesitant to just end up getting a new job in a place I'm going to hate even more. For now my main goal is to find a job that will allow me some flexability in scheduling. I don't think I can go back to acute care since I would have to start from the bottom again. I was thinking of going into public health nursing, but not sure yet. Thanks for the suggestion of ambulatory care, that might not be a bad idea. I do like working with people. I just don't like it when it involves having them scream in my ear how much their insurance sucks !!!! If they only knew that mine sucks too
  6. Hi there; There are plenty or places that hire new nurses. You have to focus on applying to bigger hospitals that have new grad/re-entry programs. The'll probably have sign a contract to stay with them for a length of time but in return you get really great training involving a classroom and clinical setting. Contact the nurse recruiter for the bigger hospitals in your area, especially the teaching facilities. Good luck
  7. Don't know about your area but over here in CA there are several big hospitals that offer re-entry/new grad programs. They make you sign a contract stating that you will stay with the hospital for a length of time and they will train you for acute care nursing. Check with the big hospitals in your area, especially any teaching facilities. Good luck!!
  8. Hi all: I need some help in revitalizing my career. I just feel so disillusioned with nursing. I suppose I was never all that thrilled to get into it. It just sort of happened. But I do remember being really into my first nursing job (ICU). One of the main reasons for that was that I used to love my co-workers from back then, but the hospital was small and I wanted to move to the "big city" and learn more. I know live in LA and I am so tired of the daily grind. I no longer work in acute care. I just can't do it anymore, I have young children and I cannot bear to be away for such long hours. I ended up working in managed care for the past 5-6 yrs. It used to be interesting but now it is just disheartning. The state of healthcare in this country is just horrible. How can it possibly be ethical for a company to make money by short changing people off their benefits? I can't stand it anymore but don't know where to go. Working in this field has opened my eyes to so me realities. I think to change careers altogether but have no clue what to do. Being a nurse is all I know and have been since I graduated from college at 21yrs old.

Hello there I didn't think anyone would reply!! I've been doing TT for 3.5 yrs and I really do enjoy it, mundane calls and all ;-) It's funny because after I posted my comment I got a call from a man threatening to shoot up the car dealership he bought his car from, YIKES!!! Boy did that wake me up!!!! I have newfound appreciation for the frantic parent calling for a fever of 99.5 I see you work in UK, how does TT work there? do you work for the government? Pardon my ignorance, not too familiar with healthcare in your county, I just know it is sanctioned by the government for everyone, right?
  10. hi there, I work for Molina Healthcare in Long Beach, Ca. They don't hire for home based positions, though. I know Healthcare partners has some home based positions for their telehealth program. My understanding is that it is based on seniority. HTH, Betty

Hello everyone; It looks like this message board is kind of slow, but thought I would introduce myself in case there are others out there wanting to chat. My name is Betty, I'm a telephone triage nurse for an insurance company in SoCal. For the most part I like my job, although it can be repetitious at times. I'm looking forward to meeting other nurses who do this type of work to share ideas and experiences. Betty
