  1. Hi Darius, I had the interview, there was no questions asked about religion at all. I was asked to support their mission statement but that wasn't a problem as its all about caring and respecting the individual. I have been working their since October last year and am really enjoying the job. I'm working on the Orthopaedic ward so its really busy going to and from theatre and helping roll the patients. Its helped heaps with my nursing studies. The rate of pay isn't the best but I make up for that by working afternoon shifts. I'm loving it!! BG
  2. Hi Joanne, Yes they mentioned their mission and vision statement and said that we will be asked to support it. I have no problem with that at all. It really comes down to the patients and the care they receive and regardless of faith we all want whats best for the patient :) jlsRN - thankyou for the pic of the Dali Lama and the Pope - it certainly put my mind at ease. Thankyou all for your replies, BG
  3. Cheers Grace and Canoehead, I was going to mention the compassionate nature of buddhism if it got mentioned but fingers crossed it wont!! Canoe - I'll have a look in the bathroom (if i get the job!) and see if they've made specimen catching easier Thanks heaps for replying BG
  4. Hi everyone, Its probably sad but I'm very excited about a job interview I have next week as a PCA at SJOG. My question is... as it is a Catholic organisation and I am a buddhist - will that be held against my chances of being employed? I dont know what I should answer when the inevitable religious question arises. Cheers for any insight, BG
  5. Hey Dar, if your interested the book is called Mosby's Dictionary of Medicine, Nursing & Health Professions.... Aust and NZ Edition. I'm like you with books - I can never throw any out!!
  6. Thanks Rach and Dar for your replies. I spent about 2 hours in a city book store trolling though all the dictionaries they had and ended up settling on Mosby's Australian version. At $85 if I dont use it very much it will make it an unique and expensive door stop! Thanks to both of you.
  7. Hi all, I was told to get my hands on a good nursing dictionary to help with my studies - I'm a 1st year student. As there is a huge choice of Australian and overseas ones I thought I should ask if anyone has one as an indispensible tool that they would like to share the title with me please?? Cheers! BG
