GA BON no longer accepting Excelsior education; Speak up Cont. Updates!!
I live in Atlanta and just saw this on our local news tonight. You can view the the video at www.myfoxatlanta.com. I was so shocked. Although I'm not enrolled in Excelsior, I'm sure this will affect tons of students who have already spent lots of money on this program.

Evening & weekend nursing school - finally
For anyone in Atlanta area, this may be of benefit. It appears that one school has finally gotten a clue. Although I live too faraway to attend. Brenau univ offers a 3 year BSN in nursing. Claases meet every Tuesday & Thursday 6p-10p and clinicals are held every other weekend. How geat is that. This school has the sense to know that tons of people want to go back to school, but can't afford to quit their full time day jobs. I wonder when the rest of America will get a clue. We can try to figure out what's going on on other planets and outer space, but the lightbulb is not coming on in regards to the nursing problem. Just think about what a full time weekend nursing program would do if one school (just one) in each state state would offer it. This nursing problem would be a memory. Just something to think about.

Any Respiratory Therapists Doing Excelsior?
Independence University (formally California College of Health Science) is the only school in the US that offers respiratory tech via distance learning. You have to do your clinicals at a local hospital (a little over 700 hours).

Any Respiratory Therapists Doing Excelsior?
Hello, I saw your post. I'm getting ready to start the respiratory therapy program with Independence University. Can you give a soon to be student any advice regarding the career/study tips etc. I'm both nervous and excited about it. How does it compare to nursing?

College like Excelsior
I am a working professional who have been trying to enter a nursing program that fits into my schedule. I've searched the net and it seems like excelsior is the only online/distance learning school where you can enter if you are an LPN, Respiratory Therapist or Parametic and right now I'm not one of either. Since I work full time and can't afford to quit my job. I was looking into a distance learning Respiratory Therapist program with Independence University (CCHS). That way once I complete that program I can enter Excelsior RN program. I'm so sad they don't allow medical assistants to enter the program. But here the drawback, the Respiratory program cost $20,000, requires 700 clinical hours, and you are responsible for finding your own clinical site (preceptor). Does anyone know of any other school similar to Excelsior. I've looked everywhere. I'm starting to think of just getting a Masters degree in Healthcare Administration since I already have a Bachelor degree and can't seem to find any other nursing program. Also, has anyone went through the Respiratory Therapist program with IU?
