Wow, thats great Lori!! So I can start by only taking 1 or 2 classes? I think that's what I should do. I'm 30 and have 3 small kids. 10,5 and 3, Im a SAHM. Im wondering if I should wait until they're older to do this? I wanted to start asap though.

Cool Lori! I havent applied anywhere yet. Im thinking of Essex County, Passaic, even Bergen. I did fill something out for Bloomfield College for pre-nursing courses. Im assuming thats what I need?! Its very confusing to me lol.

I just saw this section!? Im still checking out all the diff sections and didnt realize this is where I prob should be posting LOL. Im not in school, but I want to be a nurse SO bad...a L&D nurse. I didnt do good in HS, but others have told me that's ok. Its the college classes that count. Which makes me feel much better. I just hope I can get into a school! I guess the 1st step is calling and making an appt with a counselor? Do I explain I want to take the courses I need to get into a nursing school? And once I pass those classes THEN I apply to nursing schools right? I want this SO bad! A little about me. Im 30 and a SAHM to 3 kids. 10, 5 and almost 3. I have a wonderful hubby and we live in NJ. I know it's not going to be easy, everyone keeps telling me how hard it'll be. But I really want this!

SOOOOOOOO BAD!!!! Im so jealous of you all. I hope I can do it. Im planning on going to a community college to take the classes I need. Anytime I talk to anyone about it they're always like its VERY hard. Which Im not expecting it to be easy, but they say it like I cant do it. My cousin is in nursing school right now and we're planning on talking one day next week about it. She said it's intense but she loves it.

Wow, thanks mitchsmom! Had no idea about that. I do know I wasnt on antibiotics for mine, I wonder why! I didnt get great care at that time either. Didnt have any drugs (wanted them), I pushed for 2 hours and they had to use the vacuum, I had an ob I never met, until he came in to deliver my son. It was not a good experience.

Mine was pretty big but my ob said he didnt want to do anything yet, just keep an eye on it. Im assuming it went away?! LOL.

If I go to nursing school should I go for RN or BSN? My neighbor who is a nurse said go with the BSN. Im confused with it all. I want to be a L&D nurse so not sure if that has anything to do with it? Thanks!

No complications, not that I knew of anyway LOL. The nurses were always with me, but I remember them saying they werent allowed to check? I should have asked why.

LOL. I remember this with my 1st too (10 years ago) I was young and he was my first. I had no clue what was normal or not. I got out of bed to use the bathroom and when I stood up blood gushed out of me, and it looked like a LOT, a lot of the floor was covered in it. WELL the nurse that was with me RUNS OUT OF THE ROOM!!! Here I am, 19 years old not knowing what the hell is going on. My Mom and now hubby was with me and turned pale as anything. Nurse comes back and apologizes, she was new and didnt know if that was normal. She says it was but nobody came to check?! I was also told with that delivery, I had a hematoma (sp?) which still today I have no clue what that is??? Nothing was done about it. The ob checked it and kept an eye on it but nothing was done.

I want to be a L&D nurse. I have 3 kids and with my 1st I remember the L&D nurse I had checked for dialation. With my 2nd and 3rd, the nurses I had didnt. They said they had to page the Dr or midwife bc they werent allowed to check. How come? Just curious.

Anyone go there? I really would love to go to school and become a nurse, L&D, but Id just love to become a nurse. Has always been my dream. I didnt do well in HS and didnt take my SATs. I was thinking of going to a community college for my pre-reqs. My neighbor is a nurse and I talked to her today. She said Mountainside offers the courses you need, it can all be done there. But when I went to the site it said something about SAT scores and being ranked high in your class. And like I said I wasnt a good student and didnt take my SATs, but I know I can do this bc I REALLY want it. So Im wondering do some schools only accept you if you took your SATs and then there's some where it doesnt matter? Also, she said I should go for my BSN? I was thinking RN? Id LOVE to be a L&D nurse, but I can also see myself in the ER or NICU.

I didnt go! The woman I talked to was making it like this was the best thing for me to do. Im looking into community colleges!

Whats the diff between an LPN and RN? You start off with being an LPN?

So now nurses would be paying less than $200 a year? And Drs are more, or nurses can pay a large amount? Sorry, lost LOL.

Does every nurse get this? Im asking bc Im very interested in becoming a nurse. I was talking to my sister about it today who said I was better off becoming a secretary LOL. My uncle is a Dr and Aunt was a nurse and they were telling my sister the amount of money nurses (and Im sure Drs too) have to spend on malpractice insurance is insane.

Ah I see. Thanks!! I was asking about the norm bc with my last child I know I lost around 250 cc (I think it's cc?) which I heard was a lot, but the MW said it was normal.
